“Absolutely Spectacular!”
Our recent stay (June 2011) at Willowbank Resort was wonderful. The hotel was so much more than we expected. It is located overlooking the Atlantic which is the view that you see when eating breakfast every morning and when you eat dinner there. Additionally, the sun sets over this view of the Atlantic. 3 minute walk to two private beaches with gorgeous water, plentiful chairs and great places to snorkel. The room was huge, bathroom was totally updated, towels and toiletries were plentiful. Staff were extremely personable and felt like old friends by the end of the visit. The atmosphere breeds friendliness among the guests and we met so many interesting people. The food was abundant and delicious including the huge breakfast buffet. Hotel was clean, and totally Bermudian. Pool was wonderful and empty most of the time. This was like a true slice of paradise. We felt so lucky to be able to experience it in its natural beauty without many people around especially on the beaches. We traveled with two children (ages 9 and 11) and felt the environment allowed them to be adventurous and to explore in total safety.
“Bermuda's Priceless Gem”
A twentieth anniversary dream come true, Willowbank was the place to be for ultimate relaxation and rejuvination. We enjoyed lots of sighteeing but felt at "home" upon returning to resort. If one wants to unplug from day to day stresses, Willowbank is a top choice. No TVs in room allowed for reconnecting to nature and people. Most of visit was spent touring the beautiful and hilly island with magnificent beaches. The recently rennovated room was truly lovely with a deck overlooking fabulous water views. I couldn't have asked for more. Thanks Expedia. We are planning another visit with the kids.
“For the adventurer”
We booked this hotel not knowing that it was a christian retreat and as it turned out, this did not matter. People were lovely, had a camp-like atmosphere, and the grounds were gorgeous. The hotel itself had a slight musty layer, but certainly not an obstacle in the scheme of things. if you are a walker, biker. scooterer, the remote location will surely be an advantage. We spent our days hiking the railroad trail to Church Bay, to the west end, and wherever our feet wanted to go. Water is pure and beautiful here—like no other island, birds and people are lovely, flowers abound, and all of above gets seasoned with bits and pieces of history that can even be taken home if you're a snorkeler or diver!
“Bermuda's BEST hotel”
The hotel is very clean, the location is wonderful, the view from the room is breathtaking!!!!
“Relaxing, renewing retreat!”
We had an incredible experience at Willowbrook. Our room had a patio overlooking the ocean, beach was very private and amazing! Staff were extremely hospitible, friendly and accommodating. The breakfast buffet was plentiful, fresh fruit daily, wonderful view in dining room. We were grateful for the opportunity to be "unplugged", no tv, pure rest, relaxation, renewing time for us as a couple. The area is close to the most scenic beaches in Bermuda and bus lines and ferries as well as scooters make it easy to get around. Will recommend to both friends and family. Hope to return again. Rooms comfortable, need some updates and grounds need a little TLC yet the walk to the ocean and beautiful and peaceful environment well worth it!
“Tranquil surroundings away from the thousands of liner tourists - loved every minute”
Willowbank The photos don't lie - peace, restful holiday with a lovely dock & two small beaches . Hot breakfast was amazing value we lasted to late in the afternoon most days. We ordered a packed lunch -good value and had evening meal of a buffet Barbeque on the Thursday night . Being from the UK we chose to have meals outside AC too cold inside for us. All the staff are warm, welcoming & lovely special thanks you to Gretchen (BIG HUG), Sharlita, Sukia, Mac, and Cook Shirleen. Our room was cosy, although we did have trouble getting the door open my daughter had the knack and we only had one key (smile). The views across the horizon are amazing to watch sunset. We used the kayaks on our last day and regularly went to the dock to feed the fish - we i miss doing now. The Christian values of the hotel invites a quiet yet fun type of clientele. We made some lovely friends hopefully for life. My friends that live in Bermuda after visiting us at the hotel said they would stay for a treat. There are no tvs in the rooms but i don't go on holiday to watch tv, there is a radio and all facilities mentioned in the room where there. To our advantage we also had internet free to use handy to keep in touch with home and booking in return flight. The bus stop is just across the road and reception were happy to assist with taxis, mini buses and take away services should we require them. I would definitely recommend this hotel and when i return to Bermuda will stay again amen.
“Wonderful if you like peace and quiet”
Willowbank is a special place. Very quaint and charming. The location is spectacular. You can swim in lovely calm waters a short walk down to the beach. If you are looking for the "night life" this is not the place. We will go back.
“Great Hotel”
The pictures do not do this hotel justice. The standard beach front rooms are very spacious and overlook the sea. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and go out of their way to make your stay a pleasant one. We didn't eat dinner but the breakfast was lovely (we didn't need to eat until the evening) and the tea rooms was just like being at home. There are two beaches and a harbour right next to the hotel and a the grounds are well kept. We would definitely go back to this hotel if we visit Bermuda again. The only downside was that the wifi was broken.
“A Gem!”
This hotel is loaded with so many amenities that the big chain hotels can not boast. They are located on a property that is breathtaking. The two private beaches are lovely and so convenient....just a small walk away from your room. The breakfast is included in your package and is a full hot breakfast with fruit and pastry offerings. The outdoor pool was very clean and a good size. We used the kayaks that are available at the property and went out into the Sound . Going under the Somerset bridge was one of the best experiences we had on this trip. The bus stop is convenient. The Heydon Chapel is a short walk and also offers wonderful views of the Sound. We met so many wonderful people. The staff is so friendly and you can speak with the General Manager, Terri at breakfast typically (such a nice personal way to greet and meet the guests). They are willing to accomodate you as best as possible. We enjoyed the outdoor dining (with oean views) on the nights that was offered. We also appreciated the quiet and serene environment. It was a great place to detach from stress and recharge. We will be returning!
“Average Hotel Stay Good Value”
You get what you pay for. No frills stay at a clean quiet resort. Friendly attentive staff who know your name in a small resort. Beautiful country: beaches and waters. Unfortunately, the bus strike affected us since this resort is close only to the Dockyards; 4 miles away. I was hoping for more Christian surroundings but Bermuda has been affected by the recession and drugs/alcohol in the last ten years or so. Pity. Food prices were comparable to New York city's so this was never an issue. Hard to justify the expensive Meal Plan here so we ate only twice out of nine meals. We would have liked more water related sports/pool/etc.
