A beautiful B&B with such lovely character and history. Patricia was a fabulous host and made us a beautiful breakfast, all locally sourced. Axbridge is a lovely location and only a five minute walk to the local pubs & shops. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend!
Had a fantastic anniversary stayed 3 nights Patricia was a fantastic host. The old building was just how we expected it to be. It took u back into time. Breakfast layout was superb. I would definitely recommend this B and B. Wookey caves and Cheddar Gorse fantastic places to visit all in all 5 star
The house was beautiful and the host fabulous. The location is really good too only being a few miles away from Cheddar and 12 miles away from Western Super Mare. There's a couple of pubs in the medieval square that sell good food and only a 5 minute walk from Compton House.
Patricia was wonderful. Made us feel exceptionally welcome. On arrival we were even offered a complimentary local ale (which was delicious). The room was cute, clean and as you would expect from a house that's approaching it's 400th birthday. If we're ever down that way again, we'll be staying there.
We highly recommend this hotel. From start to finish the service was second to none! The host is kind and friendly and went out of her way to make us welcome. Beautiful location.
Lovely house, and large well kept garden. So peaceful. Patricia could not be more attentive. The breakfasts were amazing and plentiful. It was a pleasure to stay here. I did not want to leave.
I can only reiterate all the many good things that have been stated in so many previous excellent reviews. Tricia makes you feel so at home in Compton House, the atmosphere is warm, welcoming and inviting, you hesitate to leave. It is a treasure.
Beautiful, pleasant, clean & polished tranquil, beautiful, interesting subtle artefacts which blend in with the rooms respecting the houses past years.
Patricia was a truly pleasant lovely, approachable helpful lady who went above & beyond for any request.
We felt stress free from the moment we entered the house.
The food was all fresh, plentiful, tasty & locally sourced.
Very comfortable stay ,we were made most welcome and amazing breakfast with lots of home prepared goodies cheeses, fruit compote and fresh fruit as well as a cooked breakfast if you wished. Beautiful garden at the rear and easy walk into historic Axbridge for am evening meal and a pint. Overall highly recommended (not for minimalists)
Beautiful house, bedrooms, grounds and settings. The village is brilliant to visit, and Patricia the host did all she could to make us welcome. Best BnB we’ve been to.
As dog owners we are used to the back room but not in this occasion! A beautifully comfortable room, fluffy towels and immaculate linen combined with old world charm in this beautiful house, made for a most comfortable stay. Our dog was made most welcome too and had plenty of room for his bed. An excellent night’s sleep was rounded off by the most plentiful breakfast I’ve ever had! Fresh fruit, granola and yoghurt followed by a beautifully cooked English breakfast, local cheese and bread and home baked cake and flapjacks. Needless to say, I gave it all a go! Local pub (Crown) within walking distance for tasty eveniing meal. 5* without hesitation.
We had a wonderfully comfortable and relaxing 5 days. From the welcoming tea in the drawing room onwards, Patricia couldn’t have been more helpful or made us feel more at home.
A gem of a house with beautiful views, well positioned for so many places of interest.
Patricia was absolutely lovely so welcoming. Compton house was charming. The breakfast was delicious served in a beautiful ornate dining room. I’m sure we will be back.

Cosy B&B.
Owner was very hospitable. Cosy B&B. Great proximity to Cheddar and Wells. Walking distance from Axbridge village centre. Great views across Somerset downs. Recommended for short stay for anyone visiting Somerset on the way to Devon, Cornwall or South Wales.
Compton House is full of character and the hostess, Patricia is great company and conversationalist.
We stayed in the Elizabethan Room with a wonderful antique oak four poster bed.
Breakfasts are tasty, wholesome and filling.
Situated close to Wells, Cheddar and Glastonbury, Compton House is well situated for exploring Somerset.
I booked a night away with my partner so that we could walk the Cheddar Gorge. Compton House is in a great location very close to Cheddar. The village of Axbridge where the guest house is located is so charming and we had such a great time. There are three local pubs within very easy walking distance (where you can also get food). We checked out all three and found them all to be very hospitable.
Patricia is a wonderful host and is very helpful and personable. The guest house is spotlessly clean and has so much character. There is a beautiful garden and breakfast was just spot on!!
I would highly recommend Compton Guest House.
We were warmly greeted. The house was old and interesting. We had a gloriously comfortable 4poster bed. Excellent breakfast. We would recommend this guest house to anyone visiting the area.
Lovely Georgian house in the beautiful Somerset countryside. Convenient local pubs serving good food at reasonable prices. Very nice host and friendly resident cats.
We were made to feel very welcome by the owner and her cats, The building and rooms are chocked full of character and history, The breakfast had everything you would want, and more, hot food was cooked to order, best variety of food I have ever been offered,The view at the rear of the house was spectacular, bed very comfortable.Would visit again
Lovely, charming house full of character and interest. Superb country views from the patio where we were served tea upon our arrival by our very welcoming and helpful host for the weekend. Good variety of choice for breakfast. Our room was large and comfy.

A guest house full of antiques and objet d'art with fantastic views over the countryside.
Welcoming and friendly management.
All round excellence. We arrived back at Bristol airport late at night, rang the hotel to say that we where on our way, and where greeted on our arrival in a most friendly way. We where showed up to our room and asked what time we would like breakfast. We had a very restful nights sleep followed by
Patricia
This is a beautiful house to stay in - Patricia could not make you feel any more welcome. Our room was South facing, so looking over the garden and with great views beyond. Lots of room and comfortable furnishings. Breakfast is wonderful, lots of choices of cooked and cold local produce. Locally, it's a nice, short stroll into the centre square - with a large pub serving food and a restaurant plus a co-op which is handy if you have forgotten to pack your toothbrush!
Intimate, period hotel set in a delightful village
We really enjoyed this interesting hotel and it's welcoming owner. We felt like personal guests and nothing was too much trouble for our hostess. Our bathroom was clean, roomy & presented with beautifully fragranced toiletries. Breakfast was individually catered for with very tasty offerings. A tray of tea or coffee taken in the lovely garden with marvellous views completed the ambiance. Evening meals were not available but a five minute walk to the village square provided enough choice of good food from various restaurants/ pubs. A short drive provided more alternatives. We enjoyed trips to Cheddar, Western-Super-mare and Wells, all very close by. We hope we can return sometime.
The atmosphere was like staying in a friends house for the night. Our host was very welcoming and cooks a delicious English Breakfast. The House and gardens had great character and the room itself was beautifully presented. All in all a great weekend, many thanks.
Really enjoyed a one night stay here. Great little medieval village to explore. Friendly locals and close to all the cheddar and Somerset attractions. Breakfast fantastic too. Great host and lovely spacious rooms decorated very tastefully with antiques. Recommended!
