This hotel is an absolute gem! With its breathtaking views of the serene lake and enchanting woodland trails, it's a nature lover's paradise. The restaurant offers culinary delights that tantalize the taste buds, and the breakfast spread is simply divine. The rooms are a haven of comfort, with plush beds and modern amenities ensuring a luxurious stay. Having had the pleasure of staying here twice, I can confidently say that nothing in the vicinity compares to the sheer magnificence of this establishment.

Dejligt sted
Super superior værelse, flot indrettet stort rum med sofa og balkon med direkte udsigt til søen. Lidt lydhørt ind imellem. Men ellers stille. Rigtig fin service, dejligt venligt personale. Der er hvad eer skal være til morgenmad, også morgenbitter. Fik lille pose med æble og vand ved afgang. Ingen smålighed nogen steder. Været der et par gange og god oplevelse hver gang

We enjoyed our stay and the room was pleasant enough though the hotel is rather dated (not necessarily a problem) but also a little tired.

Very basic
Somewhat worn down facilities - very basic - not even a pen or hairdryer in the room - no toiletries - but they did provide for free upon request. Breakfast - decent - but the scrambled eggs serves On that day - was either from a can - or the chef forgot to add salt …. Ordered a double bed- which was two single beds put together 🙈.

Very reasonable and perfectly fine for us!
This was absolutely fine - though if you want a 'special, luxury' experience maybe this is not the hotel for you. For myself and my husband (visiting family) it was perfectly good - and very reasonable! The breakfast was great - lovely eggs, bread, fruit, cheese etc...... I can't comment on the cold meats, or hot bacon and frankfurters, as I did not partake! The beds were extremely comfortable - and the view from the window was beautiful - over the lake. The bathroom was functional - fine for us - but as I say, if you are looking for a bit of luxury, maybe this is not the hotel for you. As for us - we'll be back in a few months!

One of the best we've found
Excellent place; quiet location, beautiful landscaped grounds, friendly and helpful staff, good food & drink available. And they accommodated us for early check-in, a real plus for those traveling by bicycle. Out of the bustle of City Center, but very close to everything.

Basic
One night stay on business, passing through. This is basic hotel. accom clean and tidy but needs a bit of refurb IMHO. Staff really nice. Located on outskirts of town. nice lakeside setting with easy access to walks etc. Pricey for what it was and for length of stay so will prob search somewhere else next time nearby.

Beautiful setting but needs decorating!
A wonderful setting with beautiful views. Their is nothing wrong with the service, comfort or the (excellent) breakfast. However the hotel does need the proverbial 'lick of paint' and it is in desperate need of modernisation.

Nice hotel with great views. However, there was no kettle in the room, and the complementary tea and coffee in the lobby was unavailable because the machine had broken down. The restaurant was very nice, but compared to other patrons, our meal was massively oversized.

Nice hotel in a park-like setting
This is a very comfortable hotel in an open park-like setting on the edge of a gorgeous lake. Spacious rooms, well appojnted, Good WiFi. Really enjoyed hiking on and around the property. Excellent restaurant, if a bit pricey. Superb breakfast. Drive or walk 15 minutes into town.

Very Pleasant
I stayed here for two nights with colleagues and it's a great location on the lake. Located what feels like just outside Skanderborg (though only 10 min walk to town), the hotel is very pleasant, staff friendly and it has all you need for a comfortable few nights.

Nice location, but noisy rooms
The Pros: The location is very pretty. Close walk into town. The bed was comfortable and the room was very lovely overall. Clean. The Cons: The wifi was really bad. There were certain parts of my room (like sitting on the bed) where I couldn't even stay connected. The walls are sooo thin. Luckily I didn't really have 'loud' people next to me. However, despite that, I could hear everything (from neighbors plugging in things to talking, etc). There is also a big door at the end of the hall that is between the rooms and the lobby and that was constantly slamming as people would pass between the rooms. The staff was kind of just okay -- would do something if you requested (call cab, give directions) but were never very friendly.

Stunning Views
The location of the hotel was excellent, with a short walk to the edge of the lake. The food was delicious with excellent presentation. The room was a bit minimalistic and the bed not very comfortable. The price was good value for money considering the price of hotels in Denmark.

Not the best.
The Hotel has deteriorated since our stay in 2011. Perhaps because a change in management, the manager or owner was quite visible this time around and his attitude clearly affected the staff in a negative way, We will not return.

The hotel could not be better situated. Beutiful lakes and scenery all around in the area. The Hotel is good value for the money, according to Danish standards. If you are looking for five star accomodations in Denmark look elswhere and expect to pay 5 times the cost. A good solid 3 star hotel.

Hotel Skanderborghus - basic but convenient
The hotel room had a "run down" feel to it, but was adequate and everything worked. The provision of a kettle, mugs and coffee was a welcome change from other hotels in Denmark we have experienced. Breakfast buffet was adequate, although the fresh fruit was limited in variety and quantity. The evening meal was reasonably priced, but too salty for our tastes. However, only a short walk to Skanderborg, where there is a super cafe in the Library/ Cultural Centre building, serving very good meals until 10pm. Pleasantly located on the shores of a lake. The views from some rooms are good, but not equally so from all rooms. We overlooked a portaloo that had been placed in the grounds ready for a festival later in August. Skanderborg itself was conveniently located for visiting both Arhus and the lakes around Silkeborg.

Hotelværelset var utrolig koldt selv efter 4 timer var der meget koldt på værelset fjernsynet fungerede kun på få kanaler sengene som var to enkel senge sat sammen glæd helt vildt hurtigt fra hinanden og gjorde det ret ubehageligt at såre dig at receptionen går utrolig tidligt hjem så det var ikke muligt at komme kontakt med personalet Restauranten god betjening spændende gryde dog overvældende antal grøntsager men alt i alt en god oplevelse Morgenmaden var ok men absolut ikke prangende da jeg skulle tjekke ud påtalte jeg de ting der havde været med værelset men det gav ikke anledning til nogen former refusion man virkede lidt ligeglad Beliggenheden af stedet er super dejlig men ikke hotel jeg vil kunne anbefale

Hotel i pragtfulde omgivelser.
Hotellet har en fantastisk beliggenhed, men trænger til at blive opdateret/renoveret, især badeværelset, hvor gulvet er meget koldt, især på denne årstid, og der mangler generelt ordentlig varme - der kan ikke skrues op for varmen på badeværelset. Gardinerne på værelset hænger ned foran radiatoren, og forhindre derved varmen i at fordele sig på en behagelig måde.
