"Beautiful views"
This is a very pleasant hotel set in the town centre. The views from the restaurant and our bedroom were absolutely stunning - in one direction we could look all along the valley, and in the other direction the Moorish Castle (lit at night) stood above us. Quite breathtaking. Reasonable breakfast, and very good room rate. One downside is that the hotel states there is parking, which there is, directly outside the hotel, but only for about 12 cars. We had to park in a car park, which although not too far away, was up a couple of VERY steep sets of stairs - we got a taxi to take us back to the car when we left! The Palace of Pena, Moorish Castle and the Palacio Nacional de Sintra are all 'must sees', and are easy to reach either on foot, or by a circular bus ride. Not too busy during our visit at the end of September, but I would imagine it is very crowded in Sintra at holiday times.

"Excellent Value"
We stayed there just at the end of the season so it was nice and quiet. The pool area was very decent and far surpassed my expectations for a 2 star hotel. The style was slightly 60's retro not fashionable which gave it a charm of it's own and the houskeeping was of a very good standard. The breakfast was not great but there was a lovely coffee shop in Colares so we mingled with the locals having breakfast each day.Would go again.......excellent value and non pretentious hotel.

"Right across from the palace"
My friends and I (4 women) stayed at the hotel in late April. First impression is that it looks very old from the outside. Once we went in, it was very impressive. Beautiful lobby with comfortable sitting area and a lovely dining room where breakfast was served. Dinner is served in a beautiful dining room in the palace right across the street. The staff could not have been more accommodating and polite. They also all spoke English very well. I would definitely recommend this to anyone.

"Good family stay for the price"
For traveling with family by car (2 adults, 2 children) - very good place. We stay for 2 days, and enjoy it. 3 km from sea and local town with all attractions, so car is recommended. Nice breakfast. Open pool and sauna. Very good 2 level townhouse apartments with 2 bedrooms, separate toilet rooms, kitchen and etc.

"Fabulous hotel with first class service"
I visited pengha longa for a holiday of relaxation and exploration. From the outset, I was treated with the greatest hospitality from the reception staff to the housekeepers. This is a hotel that surpasses expectation. Clean, efficient and amazing. The choice of restaurants is fantastic with the tapas Arola - top of the list. There is a choice of three swimming pools, jacuzzi, sauna, gym as well as a spa and golf course. I was in easy reach of the local culture with Sintra a mere taxi ride and Lisbon - a short train journey along the beautiful Atlantic Coast. This was my first visit to Portugal and I have now been spoilt by Pengha Longa. I will be back.

"Great staff"
Lovely hotel only one complaint. The road noise on those rooms facing the road are in for a surprise. Earplugs supplied to help but buses feel like they going to crash right into the room. This unpleasantness aside the staff is great just ask for an inside room.

"clean comfortable not to far from train station"
Stayed for one week staff all very friendly & helpfull. Didn't eat there as there was a supermarket and Mc Donald's just a 2 min walk away. location is ok it is on a busy road but didn't hear it from inside the hotel. I would stay there agian it's good value at €33 a night that's what I paid. It's very modern & clean just no swimming pool but this is like a travel inn.

"Well located and full of character"
Great choice for location to important sites. Beautiful rooms with lovely (but a little creaky) wooden floors. Breakfast was scrumptious! Helpful pleasant staff.

    Sintra Hotels Guide

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the lush woods and spectacular mountain valleys of Sintra have been a royal retreat since medieval times, popularised by 19th-century romantic writers. Sintra National Palace, with its magnificent collection of exotic tiles, dominates the town. The atmospheric ruins of the Castle of the Moors lie three kilometres southwest and the Disney-like pseudo-medieval Pena National Palace is four kilometres to the south.
