“beautiful and the pros and cons of isolation”
Our room had its own spacious balcony with a lovely view. The room was spacious and the hotel was very well kept. It was like an old mansion in great condition. It has several lounges and internet is available at a reasonable rate. A good buffet breakfast is provided. It is a very quiet hotel and town. This is great for a relaxed time. The only downside is that the last bus leaves for Florence at 850 and there is none at all to there on the weekend. Sienna is a little better serviced and a little closer. There are a couple of good and affordable restaurants nearby. the information service in town is very helpful.
“So much nicer than we expected”
What a gorgeous hotel in a wonderful town. The hotel would be nice anytime of year since it has many terraces, public rooms and fireplaces. We had a balcony and a wonderful view of vineyards. i would definitely recommend this hotel.
“Honeymoon stay”
We came here for our Honeymoon in July 2010 and had a 100% wonderful time. Staff: all very helpful and friendly, available round the clock; cleanliness: room got cleaned twice a day, and any small requests always taken care of, hotel more generally always spotless; facilities: very relaxed and big lounge, internet access (admittedly a bit intermittent with the connection, but not too bothered about this on holiday), excellent pool, all services you'd expect from the front desk; food: very broad buffet range for breakfast (can't understand earlier review advising otherwise), need to book for evening meal, evening menu good, the kitchen has gluten-free pasta for those that need it (we did); location: best to drive to Montevarchi (20 mins) and take the train to Florence - way easier than driving in Florence. Train takes about 40 minutes (fast one). Siena only an hour's drive away. Generally great location for visiting towns/villages/vineyards, and lovely view from the restaurant and pool down a valley. Radda itself is a lovely little place, quieter than neighbouring Castellina which we'd recommend visiting. Some good restaurants in Radda. Bar Dante (which is a small restaurant, not bar) just across the road is excellent for meals/drinks at a good price. Cash machine 30 seconds from hotel front door, as is a good general food store and a few chemists (pharmacies). These chemists also all stock small ranges of gluten-free food. All in all, great!
“Great Place; Great hotel”
My wife and I stayed at the Relais Vignale with our friends for two weeks in August. The hotel is lovely, as much a 'country house' as 4-star hotel. The staff were extremely attentive, pleasant and friendly. Breakfast was plentiful and beautifully presented; dinner in the hotel restaurant was superb. On a couple of evenings we also ate at the restauarant San Donato in Perrano, which is on the wine estate affiliated to the Relais Vignale. Again, the staff, service and quality of food and wine was excellent. There is a top-class grill here, which provides wonderful steaks etc. Radda itself is a lovely town and very well situated for visitng the whole Chianti region. All in all, a hotel we would wholeheartedly recommend and look forward to a return visit at some time in the future.
“fantastic in Chianti”
We spent 5 wonderful days in the Relais Vignalt. The location was great for touring the countryside or Sienna/Florence. The rooms were very nice, the breakfast was delicious, the town of Radda was delightful. Howevre, the absolute best attribute was the incredibly friendly and helpful staff of the hotel. I have traveled to Italy over a dozen times. . .the Relais Vignalt is a gem!!
“When can I come back?”
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Relais Vignale. We were treated very well, all three couples in our group were upgraded rooms, and we loved the setting, the comfortably appointed rooms, the views, and the facilities. Only comment...watch your restaurant bill - we dined in the restaurant on two nights of our stay, and on both occasions had "extras" added. May have been innocent enough, and was quickly corrected, but worth checking before you sign to your room! Loved Radda in Chianti, will be back!
“Wow! What a find!”
What a wonderful hotel! We didnt know where to stay in Tuscany so last minute booked into the Relais Vignale in Radda. As soon as we arrived, we asked for an additional night! The hotel has a beautiful restaurant, a great bar (with great service and great wines), about 4 lounge areas, a swimming pool... it was the perfect place to spend your time in Tuscany. Radda is beautiful also, an ancient walled town and right in the middle of Chianti so it's a great base for the rest of Tuscany. We loved this hotel though and would recommend to everyone looking for somewhere special. The hotel and staff really made this trip... every afternoon sitting on the balcony overlooking the rolling hills of tuscany with a beautiful bottle of chardonnay... take me back!!
“Perfect Choice”
What a beautiful hotel, located in a perfectly charming town of Radda in Chianti. Stayed Sept 11/09. Perfect location close to Siena for touring the next day, and Chianti wine country. The hotel itself is stunning with all truly beautiful views. We enjoyed a bottle of their Reserve wine on a second floor balcony bar overlooking the rolling hills and grapevines and beautiful hotel grounds. WOW! We ate at their outdoor restarant under the Wisteria vines (again beautiful view)at the recommendation of Front desk. This was one of the only negatives, food was OK, husdand's poor, should have walked accross the road and eaten at family run trattoria. Our room was one of the "double classic" plaster rooms on display on the website. Room was large with a very large spotless white bathroom #75 probably the only room on the front of the hotel with window to road.We had the window open but even with it shut was Very Noisy the entire night (echo of cars and motor bikes at all hours). This was the only real negetive of the hotel as it was not busy and they could have given us a room in another location, knowing I'm sure of complaints from other travellers, with noise. Breakfast buffet had good choice, in same location as dinner, and was good. Free parking, another major plus, when you consider many small towns have no parking. Would highly recommend. Price of hotel excellant.
“A real charmer”
The Relais Vignale is a lovely little hotel and an ideal base for exploring the Chianti region. Do not expect gold-plated-tap luxury but the hotel has bags of charm by way of compensation. Our room was a good size, comfortably furnished and with a delightful view over the vineyards and hills at the back of the hotel. One word of warning ... the bar was a little pricey, as were the restaurants and bars in Radda. The best value was the Dante Alighieri bar just across the road from the Vignale. The menu was limited and basic, but the food was well-cooked and reasonably priced. I would definitely go back.
“An Excellent Hotel in a Beautiful Tuscan Village”
My wife and I very much enjoyed our 3 night stay at the Relais Vignale in Radda-in-Chianti. The village is beautiful and a lovely destination in itself, but also an excellent base for excursions to nearby Tuscan cities including Siena and Florence. Radda is particularly noteworthy for its location in the midst of the Chianti winemaking region. The hotel itself is well maintained and the rooms are clean and comfortable. The older buildings have been updated where needed but retain their historic charm. The restaurant is sufficient, with good breakfasts and fine dinners, although probably does not justify a visit on its own. Overall, very comfortable, scenic and romantic!
