“Good location”
A very old ex-monastory, about 8 mins walk from the palazza. Rooms have air con. Good breakfast, no other food available but lots of local restaurants. Private parking is available at a charge but tight access.
“Fantastic find in Siena”
This is a lovely hotel, set back from the tourist area but easy access to the Campo, Duomo etc. It's been beautifully restored and the rooms are well furnished - although fairly plain, in keeping with the history of the building. Very good breakfast, and we got upgraded on arrival which was an added bonus! Definitely going back.
“Fantastic Hideaway”
We stayed at Il Chiostro for two nights in Oct. 2009. What a wonderful place and the location was excellent! As others have mentioned, there is no elevator which can prove to be a challenge for some, however, we had no problems with it. The rooms was large, clean and very comfortable. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We would definitely stay here again. Unfortunately the weather wasn't great while we were there so we didn't get a chance to enjoy the courtyard much, however, we did sit under the arches and watch the rain fall in the courtyard one evening. It was spectacular.
“Perfect”
Fantastic location, friendly staff and perfect room with a typical Tuscan view
“Romantic Siena”
Excellent hotel, located in the heart of this beautiful medievil city.Could not fault the hotel, service was excellent and staff very friendly. Our room had a shuttered window that opened onto terrace looking out onto the roof tops of the Monastry and surrounding buildings . in the distance the Tuscan countryside..which was spectacular. We were there for 2 nights flying to Pisa then coach to Siena . We returned to Pisa by train which was excellent. One fantastic bonus of the location of the hotel, is that it has a brilliantly equipped supermarket 100mteres away. Hams, cheeses, bread and wine all reasonably priced. We didn't eat out once, made our own pack lunches and had feasts back at our room each night. Saved a fortune!!! Make sure you visit the Torre del Mangia overlooking the del Campo the climb of 400 steps is well worth it as the views are spectacular. Siena is a must for a few days.
“Great Hotel”
Hotel was a great deal. The staff and accomodations were excellent, especially compared with the quality of most European Hotels. I had just stayed 4 nights in a hotel in florence for almost 3 times the price, and after what I had stayed in, when I saw my room and my bathroom I was absolutely elated!
“Superbe hotel”
Très bon hotel, bien situé, proche des principaux monuments. Plein de charme. Personnel très serviable, disponible, aimable etc., etc.
“Quiet comfort in former convent”
Il Chiostro del Carmine is about 10 minutes from the Campo in Siena, in a relatively quiet corner of the city (though not so quiet when the drums of the local Contrada began to practise for the upcoming Palio). The Hotel is comfortable and the breakfasts are good. Two slight niggles. First, there is no lift, and getting to even the first floor means climbing 34 steps. Second, the clothes rail in the wardrobe was well above head height - fine if you've brought a long ball gown but not so convenient for putting ordinary clothes on hangers. However, air conditioning made up for this during an extremely hot period in Siena, when temperatures touched 35 degrees.
“Charming quiet hotel full of character”
Stayed 2 nights Jan 08, would definitely recommend to others. Set within medieval walls in typical Sienese street, hotel is full of character, quiet ?due to time of year, and staff friendly, although didn't see much of them after checking in. Good breakfast - typical continental style. Our room was on top floor and no lift so good exercise for those who don't mind it, not so good for those that do. Worth it for the beautiful views and sunset/sunrise. Beautiful courtyard area, would be perfect retreat at warmer times of year. Able to unload luggage at door of hotel and parking round corner, at additional cost!
“Beautiful hotel”
This spot is full of character and comfort. Perfect location, short walk outside the bustling center of Sienna. The rooms are large, clean and comfortable. Staff was extremely helpful. I highly recommend a stay here.

Siena, Italy: Tuscanys most distinctive and enticing provincial capital, Siena appears to be frozen in time. The glorious medieval core remains a itrecento/i masterpiece, cascading down three hills from the fan-shaped Piazza del Campo. The thrilling Palio horserace takes place twice a year in July and August, and has to be seen once in a lifetime.
