“Loved the hotel!”
The staff was very friendly and went out of their way to accommodate us.
“very friendly, hospitable, convenient hotel”
This is not a luxury hotel. It is, however, clean with very hospitable service. Our room, a superior room, was basic but large with a nice size bathroom. The bed was adequate but not plush. The hotel was located perfectly for exploring Tuscany by car. It was easy to get on the autostrada and easy to get in and out of town. The hotel has a parking garage attached which can be used for an additional charge. The hotel's restaurant was closed but we found several good restaurants in Colle di Val d'Elsa. We would definitely stay at this hotel again.
“Very good value, not too fancy, but very clean and comfortable”
The staff was extremly helpful and polite. The hotel, although not fancy, was very clean and comfortable. The location was very central with easy access to Siena, Florence, San Gimignano, Chianti, Pisa, etc. We even took a day trip to Venice, 3 hours each way. Even the small town of Colle di Val d'Elsa is interesting, with an ancient section on a hill said to be about 1,000 years old. The hotel is very close to the town center, so there can be some street noise in the early evening. We enjoyed this atmosphere so we didn't mind our rooms being on that side of the hotel. However, if your early to bed, you may want to request a room away from the center.
“Very Enjoyable Stay”
My husband and I just returned from a 10 day holiday in Italy. We stayed at Hotel La Vecchia Cartiera for 4 nights. The room was very clean, The air conditioning worked very well and the hotel staff was most helpful. The breakfast at the hotel offered a wide variety of choices and was the best we had on our entire trip (we also stayed in Florence and Rome). It is also located in a beautiful hillside city and is an excellent base from which to explore the Tuscany region.

“Hospitable good value”
The owner transformed his former pape mill into a cheerful, impecably run hotel. He is still very involved in daily operations, making sure the place meets up to his high standards. The location is central (1/4 block from the main square), yet quiet and open. The front desk staff, on more than one occassion, went the extra mile to help us (i.e. sought out bicyle rental options,located a cane after a bike fall, looked up bus schedules). We had a delightful week's stay at this hotel. We highly recommend it!

“Ideal location, quiet, convenient and truly Italian....”
Second trip, we got a larger room this time and had a view over the old town. Colle is not tourist ridden like other local cities. It is convenient to visit surrounding Tuscan highlights.
“Really well located away from Tourist mayhem”
Good value unpretentious hotel well located from the hustle and bustle of both Siena and Florence. Ideal base for touring the region. Authentic Italian feel to the town with street markets, community and fiestas. Hotel staff were consistently helpful welcoming and pleasant. Glad I stayed at the best value hotel in the town rather than something more expensive.
