The bus is literally 20 steps away, takes you straight up to piazza Indipendenza. There’s also a quick grocery right there. The pool looked amazing and just as advertised, everything was very clean and nice.

The bus stop (to take you up to the old town of Sienna) was literally two minutes from the hotel. There is information on the bus stop telling you when your bus is due. so you can go and wait in the hotel. (very scary exciting ride up and back to the town. Our room was very comfortable and clean. Comfortable bed. Shower (inside bath) very cleverly designed. Breakfast acceptable very helpful staff. Over all enjoyed our stay at interesting Siena. Pat and Ellert Meyer

Check in and out very friendly. Very out dated hotel but is spotless clean. Breakfast is sweet variety but plenty of it. Pool area is a nice clean area with plenty of seats for guests. Good 15 minute walk to gates of Siena and no footpath on some of the road. Hotel is located on a busy road , we were on the 1st floor so very noisy from 7am onwards. Overall very reasonable price to pay while touring the area.

A great budget stay, ideally situated for exploring Siena .... a little dated but spotlessly clean And fantastic to have a pool to cool off at the end of the day. Check in was brilliant... welcomed by Giordano who gave the most comprehensive check - in I have ever experienced... lots of useful local information alongside some humour This is not for someone looking for peace and tranquility, for us it was ideal to stop off for a couple of nights after spending a week in the heart of the Tuscan countryside and with temperatures hitting 40 degrees plus, the pool was a real bonus as was the secure parking. A little supermarket almost next door is handy as is the delicious pizzeria on the corner

Hotel La Colona
The hotel is situated close to the city! There is a bus if you do not wish to walk or drive. The staff is excellent, and hotel is very clean. There is pool on the top to chill in the very hot August days. The breakfast is real good experience including Italian salary, and locks pastries!Only one comment: the shower in the bathroom is not perfect!

It was an excellent experience! Manager and staff super nice! excellent stay for those who wants to travel in Tuscany! if you don't have plans to rent a car the bus line is with a walking distance there are ok restaurants close by! Service good, breakfast good! However it gets old to eat the same thing every day, specially If you state more than two days. It has a nice swimming pool and parking space! For the price is an excellent place!

A littel gem of a hotel.
We booked this hotel a few days before we came to Siena as we decided to stay instead of driving back to Pisa the same day. We're really glad we did. It's a lovely hotel. Ideally situated at the bottom of the hill with a bus stop to go up the hill to the old town a few metres away. We had a couple of chilled hours relaxing by the pool in the afternoon when we arrived before tackling the old town in the evening. Our room was at the front, and in hindsight we should have booked a garden view, but with the windows closed and the air conditioning on, it wasn't too noisy, a car alarm went off a couple of times during the night, but I would assume that all rooms heard that.

Inexpensive hotel in good location
Although rather unprepossessing from outside, this proved to be a good choice for our Siena stop. The pool and solarium are a bonus and the parking is secure. Part of the Portuguese Pestana group which is a good thing; in our experience they are very professionally run and reasonably priced. I imagine that rooms facing the busy road would be very noisy.

Too many dogs at hotel & in breafast area too
I will not and do not recommend staying here. Too many dogs at hotel and they even take them to breakfast area and feed them there. Rooms too small and rest arooms too small. I was looking for a hotel that did not accept dogs and I thought this one did not accept them, but they do.
Response from Futura on Sep 22, 2016
Dear customer we are sorry to read a comment so negative, definitely perceive a personal malaise and your refusal to animals. Our hotel features free of animals, is well written descriptions and hopefully the customers well read all the details if they have special needs. Our hotel is not full of dogs, maximum 2 in total, and clearly we trust in the common sense of their masters that do not bring them into the breakfast room where a ban sign is prohibited, we have to respect all our customers.

Was perfect for parking
Room was comfortable, parking very easy, staff helpful with directions to the city. Only downfall was the quality of the breakfast due to the juice not being fresh and milk tasting off or powdered.

Nice hotel, but a bit out of the way
The hotel is nice, and the pool is really lovely. Breakfast was excellent. The only downside is that it's a ways outside the town center, and it's a bit of a slog to get to/from the hotel. I think it would be great for a longer stay, at least 2 or 3 days, but for a short overnight stay like I had, for the sake of convenience I think it would be better to stay in the town center, close to the sights and services.

Fine hotel, but don't try to walk to city center
Thought we could walk to the city from there, but found that no sidewalks on a busy street up to the walled city were not conducive to walking. Then tried a bus and discovered after waiting that we needed a ticket, not exact change. Hotel was fine, parking easy, but not conducive to walking
Response from General Manager on Aug 17, 2016
Dear customer, thank you for leaving a comment. We want to answer your considerations. The villa is located in a strategic position near the exit SIENA WEST of highway but also just minutes from the center. Right next to our hotel there is a bus stop leading to Piazza del Campo, the heart of the city. You must buy a city ticket and can be purchased at Tabacchi near the bus stop. Otherwise in just 20 minutes to reach the Duomo, making a short walk and then with escalators. The way of communication is the ancient road leading to the center of Siena, and has no sidewalk for a few meters, but it is not very busy and we think it is not dangerous, you can opt taking the car up to the escalator. We remain at your disposal to further clarification.

Great value driven by distance from town
Liked the price and parking. the swimming pool looked good with sun beds close by although we didn't use it. Staff tried to be helpful but missed the mark especially with information about getting to Sienna. good cafes, shops and restaurant very close by. The hotel is 1km from town which seems walkable but the road not pedestrian friendly as you approach town. Busses sound nice and easy but not so easy to use in practice. Good to see that hotel can take wheelchair users, however, as we were given one of their rooms not a fan of the wetroom bathroom.

Basic hotel with free on-site parking
Our room was a little smaller and more basic than other Tuscan hotels we stayed in at a similar price level. We were a little concerned that the room might be quite noisy as we were located on a busy road. However our fears were unfounded and we slept perfectly. The hotel is located just outside the historic centre but there is a bus stop right outside the hotel. The bus is well worth getting as it will save you a very steep climb to the city centre. However, there is a very pleasant walk back down to the hotel if you still have any energy left after a busy day's sightseeing in Siena. Breakfast was excellent and set us up well for each day ahead. If you have been travelling in Italy for a while and need a rest from pasta and pizza we would thoroughly recommend the kebab take away a few doors down from the hotel. Being vegetarians we didn't sample the kebabs but they made a fantastic felafel wrap which was so good we went back two nights in a row!

Great Hotel within Walking Distance of the Center
Great hotel for a one night stop in Siena. Walking distance of the city center. Just be warned that a portion of it is on the street (no sidewalks). There is a little shuttle bus that can be used otherwise. The hotel itself had friendly staff, a nice pool, great continental breakfast. We enjoyed our short stay!

Good convenient hotel for drivers on outskirts of
We chose this hotel during a tour of Italy as they offered free parking. Very clean with a nice free breakfast. The guy on reception was really helpful. Gave us a city map and also advised us on where to go. Bus stop right outside hotel takes you right to the Campo in the centre. Would definitely use this hotel again. Great value!

Great location to enjoy Tuscana
We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Franchesca greeted us every morning for breakfast with a smile and assisted us with juice and coffee. When we were ready to go out, Reda (the receptionist) provided us information for dinner and local sites. He told us about "Ristorante Pizzeria de Michele" that just maybe 200 meters from the hotel, where I had a great steak and grilled veggies and wife had grilled chicken. We visited several cities in the area and enjoyed Siena. This was a very good location to enjoy Tuscana.

Beautiful Hotel
The hotel was beautiful and the breakfast was wonderful. It is a bit far from the train station, but only 10 Euro in the taxi since we got in late, but the bus to the train the next morning was only 1,20 Euro. The bathroom was a great size with a full tub and the actual town of Siena was so amazing. It was a short walk to the escalators that bring you up to the piazza. We enjoyed a nice dinner in the piazza, when facing the tower it 's the furthest outdoor restaurant to the right, just on the corner before the first little street to the right of the tower building. They had delicious pizza and great service.

Needs updating
Staff very helpful. Our first room was like a dungeon. Our next night we were given a much better room but the whole building could do with a facelift. The best thing about the location was the nearby 'Michele's' restaurant. Very high quality cuisine at reasonable prices with a sommelier chef and expert staff who really know about food and drink.

America In italy
This hotel is perfectly located - Just off the (Free!) Motorway and easy to find from it; and within a walking distance of the historic centre of Siena. The only problem with that is that the road is of an awful US type with no footway and to some degree you take your life into to (ItaIian!) drivers hands when you walk to and from the centre. There is however a local bus, but the walk is slightly upgrade and so is very good useful exercise; it is a pity that the City authorities do not make it more pedestrian friendly. The Hotel will give you a map which shows an alternative route you might sus out. I had an excellent one night stay here though, finalised the following morning by an excellent breakfast buffet.

Left a lot to be desired
Our two night stay at hotel la colonna was a little disappointing. We chose the hotel based on the free parking and close proximity to Siena. The hotel is near the highway, and the neighborhood is very commercial. I would not recommend staying here if you don't have a car. It is possible to walk to Siena (we did twice), but it takes about 30 minutes and there are not sidewalks most of the way. The room was adequate in size, but it didn't seem to have been deep cleaned in quite a while. There was a very strong musty smell that lingered even with the windows open. Also, the shower doors didn't seal properly, so the bathroom floor flooded every time we bathed. The included breakfast was the one redeeming factor. Decent selection of meat, cheese, pastries, cereal, and yogurt. The fresh croissants were delicious. Overall, we would not stay here again.

Close to Historic Siena
The Hotel was easy to find, and located less than a mile from the historic center. Parking is provided behind the Hotel. The room was clean, comfortable, and quiet, and faced out over the garden area at the rear of the Hotel; the en suite bathroom was clean and modern. The Hotel has an elevator. The WiFi functioned perfectly. The buffet breakfast consisted of various cereals, bread, pastries, yogurts, fresh fruit, sliced cheese and meat, juices, coffee, tea, milk. The staff was VERY friendly and helpful, and spoke English; Reda, who greeted us, practically escorted us to the bus stop for our trip up to the city. To visit Siena with a car, a pay parking lot with hourly charges is located about 3/4 mile just down the street and around the corner from the Hotel, but you must still walk up the hill. It is probably more convenient to take the public shuttle bus (Number 54), whose stop is about 50 meters from the Hotel's entrance; for less than 2 Euros (tickets available at the Tabacchi shop near the bus stop), the bus delivers you INTO the city.
