Unforgettable. Relive a piece of history.
Amazing place and location. Breathtaking views, beautiful outdoor and indoor pools with thermal water, luxurious spa. Wonderful restaurant with the best Tuscan specialties, second to none wine list. Beautiful room with own private garden, entire property and gardens impeccably maintained, peaceful surroundings typical of the Tuscany hills. The best wineries of the famous Brunello all within a 15-minute drive, Siena, San Gimignano and other historic places reachable in an hour or less. A truly unforgettable experience.

The property is lovely, but the live music with dinner was ill suited to the atmosphere and the patrons were few on the ground. The low headcount makes an interesting selection of items for dinner difficult for the kitchen. Indeed the buffet breakfast was not available every day, again--it seems to me--due to the number of patrons at the hotels during my stay.

We apologise for your dissatisfaction about of duo piano and guitar who plays Italian and International songs smooth jazz way. They tend to vary their repertoire during the week, and we shall discuss about more appropriate tunes.Our staff presence takes into consideration the hotel occupancy. As you might have noticed we plate many of our dishes at the table, and menu items are available at all times. Our dinner menu includes Italian and some tasty Tuscan dishes, with local genuine produce.Due to few days only low occupancy, we have preferred to arrange our breakfast at the table whereas guests could enjoy an initial continental breakfast set up when seated, and order any of the items included in our buffet menu. It’s a gorgeous property. Just so unfortunate that it was cold and rainy in May. Nothing outside seemed very inviting in that weather. It was a short, two night stay.

Honeymoon trip. I liked it more than my husband but we look for different things. He was very disappointed with the bedrooms. Not much space. It felt like we were sleeping in the same room as the bathroom. But the view from the bedroom was spectacular. The pools were absolutely gorgeous. The spa doesn’t open until noon. And the sauna was never hot. We would have liked to go earlier. One thing to note: if you book on Expedia the spa (saunas, steam room, salt bath) is not included when otherwise it is. The staff told us it was included and then at checkout they tried to charge us $50/each per day we used it. So just fyi- it is not free. The food at the restaurant is great for breakfast but not worthy the money for dinner. You will pay $160 for a steak that feeds 3 people (no option for less) and it will be the most mediocre steak of your life. It will be unforgettable since you’ll regret the choice! Better off eating dinner in Montalcino.

Love the castle, it is lovely. The thermal spa is nice, the spa is good. The food is excellent. The only thing that was not pleasant was the air conditioner was not working. We opened the door to the terrace which is beautiful but there were mosquitos and ants in the bed that I was not able to sleep well for two nights.

This hotel should be avoided due to its terrible customer service. The hotel twice abruptly cancelled my travel plans- once in 2020 (completely understandable) and again with one week’s notice in 2021 (unacceptable). Making travel plans to visit Italy from the United States is an involved process and this hotel caused significant disruption in 2021. A sign of a great hotel is how the staff works with guests to resolve these types of disruptions. We have been asking for a refund for the stay or a credit for the stay to be used through June 2022 (we can’t just fly to Italy whenever we want) for the past three weeks and the hotel refuses to make reasonable restitution. Expedia needs to step in and help settle this issue. This hotel should be avoided- poor customer service on the basics is often an indication of poor customer service in the more important areas of the guest experience. DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL!

Almost dreamlike situation above the vineyards and river below. We had a once in a lifetime stay at this castle in the sky and dinner in the stars of the Italian countryside.

Very disappointed. The hotel is very very overpriced. Do not stay at the suite that has the private pool. The hotel uses a grill meters away. My wife and I weren't able to use the private pool from 11am to 2:30pm because of the smoke from the grill. Management sent us a bottle of wine to compensate for the inconvenience. Absurd! Then they offered a voucher for €200 and the €500 to be used at hotel restaurant. Even more ridiculous... a €500 meal. Ok if you want to spend on their overpriced wine. Next morning the noise of furniture being moved in the room upstairs woke us. We had to complain 3 times before the noise stopped. In a nutshell, you are way better off staying at Castiglion del Bosco a short distance away. I was also very disappointed with hotel dot com because they didn't want to compensate me for the terrible experience. Over the last 24 months I have made +50 reservations.

Worst room, worst service, don't get fooled!
I was so excited about this hotel, first of all for the pictures, and second of all because Montalcino was one of the highlights of our anniversary trip. This hotel is pretty from the outside, and the pool and common areas are really nice... but the service and attention are the WORST, and the room is the worst I've ever been to. First of all, when you arrive there's no one to help you with your luggage, you have to find the reception yourself because is kind of a maze. Then the "king bed" are two hard as rock individual beds put together as one... what is this a joke? Then the sheets burnt our skin, literally, the material was so cheap and they were so rough that literally we got our skin burned. The breakfast is included, and when I asked the guy for some sunny side up eggs, he told me that that will cost me extra, even they charged us a bottle of water of 12 euros! I mean I live in NYC and I've never had a 12 euros bottle of water. The staff from the restaurant was super rude, and they took forever. At the checkout, I told the receptionist about the sheet incident, and she told me: "Ah ok" not even I'm sorry or something, and the language was not a barrier because I speak perfect italian. So bottom line I DON'T RECOMMEND this hotel at all, there are a lot of options in Montalcino to stay.

I loved absolutely everything about this place. The staff go out of their way to accommodate you. The views are gorgeous, the restaurants have impeccable food. If you truly want to feel like a King or Queen then stay at this castle. It is 11 out of 10 stars for me !

The hotel is beautiful and the location can not be better. Beautiful views of the valley. Room was great and clean. Breakfast was very good The only issue is the overpriced food in the restaurant . I understand that in a hotel like this you are expect to pay high prices for the food. In this case the quality is not there. The service was good but the food taste and quality were below standard for a place like this . I recommend this hotel but eat outside.

The property is beyond amazing from the location to the thermal water pool to the rooms. However, the restaurant was fine, nothing great for the price and the staff need to work on hospitality. The staff asked my room number numerous times when there are only about 40 rooms.

The air conditioner did not worked properly, so given that it was summer had to sleep in a room that 25 C (80 F), with a fan which was the only solution. The property was beautiful. But, the water was poorly treated and almost everyone there was breaking out in rashes. I had a doctor treat my boyfriend and I and immediately asked us if we had been in any body of treated water/ hot tub. He automatically recognized the rash and it took days to go away. Our rooms were nice but the shower kept flooding on us. There was an enormous build up of ants by our door to our room as well. The food was insanely priced. We had the most expensive fish that we will probably have in our lives at the resort. We expected it to be pricey, but our dinner cost more than our room. The resort is definitely beautiful, but the experience was not great.

This was a bit of a splurge for us but it was worth it. We had a 2 bedroom suite. The room was great. Really big and clean. They have at least 3 pools fed by a thermal spring so the water is really warm. The view from the hotel/castle was beautiful. I highly recommend it.

We were offered wine at check-in. While at dinner we asked to purchase the same bottle of wine and none of the staff members knew what wine I was talking about. The sommelier brought us a bottle and charged us 100 euros for a completely different wine. The general manager stands in the dining staring at every single table, it was quite just a weird vibe. We asked for a private car to be arranged to go to the next town which is only about a seven minute drive and we were charged 80 euros each way. And by the way the front desk clerk never arranged the car and was off the next day. So, we ended up eating in the hotel again. If you ask for help with tours the desk clerks will only offer tours on their own property and no options outside of their hotel. After insisting they finally shared a tour book of other options. We missed our train prior to arrival so we had to change the pick up time with the hotel so Cristian charged us an additional 20% to the pick up charge. The bathroom had urine stains around the toilet floors. Other than that the room was pretty clean. The only pleasant person in the hotel was Katia a waitress during breakfast. The spa area is very slippery. My daughter fell as she walked from the locker room to the spa. There are no rubber mats anywhere for spa users to wipe their feet. I would recommend that you book your excursions and rent a car if you stay here. Or else you will pay more on transportation than the room rate.

Excellent. Located very close to Montalcino, Tuscany. Castle with natural warm pools! service was always kind and helpful. The Concierge, Rosaria Mogavero, helped me make important reservations in local wineries a month before our arrival. Excellent in every way.
