“Castle in Tuscany”
Exceptional staff made this a great stay. This was our second time there. We stayed for 5 nights. Relaxing and wonderful.
“Will definitely return”
We had the suite on the groung floor with patio. It was perfect for our stay as we toured the area every day and returned to a freshly cleaned set of rooms in the evening. The breakfast, was excellent, with a very wide choice and no restriction on how much you ate. Watch out however for the mosquito in the evening.
“Castel Bigozzi and Tuscany were fabulous!”
We rented a car for our 8 days in the Tuscan countryside and then spent 6 days in Florence. The Bigozzi was by far and away the nicest hotel we've ever stayed in. The building is old, very old, but fully renovated. The suite was big, clean and laid out perfectly with a view out the windows; of vinyards, olive trees, cypress trees, red-tiled stone villas that most people would kill for. The concierges were exceptionally charming and helpful; the way one hopes, and expects, the Italian people, any people, to be. Throughout our two week stay in gorgeous Tuscany the people were wonderful. In a 'bar' (more like a cool, classy restaurants) I was fumbling for change for take-out when the woman said, "You take, pay tomorrow." (I found the change but left a healthy tip) Tuscany is the most beautiful area I've ever seen and the hilltowns are really exceptional. The wines are cheap and excellent; the best was about CDN$6. Strove is near the fortified hilltown of Monteregioni. We went back there to many times for wine and meals... mostly for wine. Now wish I'd mailed a few, no a lot of, bottles home. BTW I'd take a pass on Florence next time, it's noisy, crowded, dirty, smelly, dangerous (narrow walkways, motorists treat pedestrians like targets). Lots of police but they stand around talking and smoking. Reminded me of Rome i.e., neat stuff to see but excessively expensive and oppressive. I'd go back to the Bigozzi and Tuscany in a minute and will do so as soon as I can.
“Nous gardons un excellent souvenir”
Hôtel d'excellente qualité avec un accueil remarquable
“We will definitely be back!!!”
We were overwhelmed by the attention the staff provided us, especially the reception staff and the kitchen staff that oversaw the breakfast service every morning. We stayed in a spacious room overlooking the Tuscan countryside, and could not have been more comfortable. We requested local restaurant suggestions and tried one nearby, that really captured the local cuisine and wines. We will be counting the days until we return to Castel Bigozzi.
“Gem in Tuscany”
We were in Tuscany in March and we stayed at Castel bigozzi. The staff were so helpful and Friendly. The accomodation was superb in location but difficult to find for the first time. Once you find it you will be amazed at the beautiful views from the grounds. We stayed here for 3 nights and wished it was longer. We highly recommend it. Breakfast was fantastic too btw.
“A welcome retreat from Florence or Siena”
Very, very nice hotel overlooking the Tuscan countryside in a rural area where you can open your windows at night and only hear peace and quiet. Staff is very friendly and helpful, speak English very well. Room we stayed in was very nice, spacious, had a king size bed, and even had a small kitchen as well. Having a car to reach this hotel is a must though. There is a small grocery store just a couple blocks away for the basic essentials. Dining is available onsite (we didn't try it), or you can venture out to some of the neighboring towns.
“Great Country Location”
We loved the view from our window at Castel Bigozzi. It was an unobstructed view of the valley and farms below the hill where the hotel is located. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They were able to arrange a privite tour of the Chianti wine region for us on short notice. Our only regret is that we could not stay longer.
“Jason”
I stayed here about 3 years ago and loved the location for wine tasting in Chianti. This stay for our honeymoon was just as good. The area was very quite accept for the occasional hunter taking a shot in November. The traditional room has the wooden bed and wardrobe with romantic views of the vineyards. There appears to be a new owner who has updated the spa area.
“Everything we wanted from a stay in Tuscany”
Spent a fantastic seven nights at this gem of a hotel. Beautiful building, rooms, pool and grounds. Cleanliness and service were exemplary. Breakfast was better than your standard limp continenal style, with fresh fruit, bread and 'proper' coffee served. Only slight imperfection was the bed - too hard for our taste. Hotel perfectly positioned for doing all the touristy stuff in Tuscany.
