Shannon is a new town founded in the 1960s which sits on the banks of the Shannon River in western Ireland. It is best known for its international airport and industrial park, but is surrounded by beautiful rolling countryside. To the south of the town the estuary provides a haven for bird-watchers, and to the east visitors will find Ballycasey Craft Center and the pretty village of Bunratty.
