“Very nice hotel”

Definitely an enjoyable stay. Never really had any problems with the Shangri-La chain any where. As usual, the rooms are very spacious. I believe I stayed in the newer tower but have stayed at both towers previously. I stayed at the Grand Hyatt a few days later and while not as over the top extravagant, I think the Shangri-La is better value (and it has an ironing board and iron, unlike the Grand Hyatt - I believe the tv was better - ie. flat screen, at the Shangri-La too although, why would you be watching tv when you can be out and about exploring the city??). I would recommend the Shangri-La as a top end hotel with a great reputation and a safe bet regardless of which city you are in.

“Top class accomodation”

Tower 2 is the new side of the hotel with rooms super comfortable. Hotel is 2 minute walk from the metro line that has direct service to Pudong airport ,the very high speed train and famous Nanjing Lu. Hotel is also by the river which allows for night stolls facing the Bund and is close to the pier here night cruise ships depart. Hotel is next to the famous building PEARL and international luxury good shops. Crossing to the Bund and to the Older Shanghai can be difficult by taxi during commuter/rush hour. Taxis are cheap but it may take you 30 mins + while the metro next to the hotel will bring you to Nanjing Lu and the center of tourist attractions within 10 mins.
