“Smaller room, priceless water view.”
Beautiful waterfront view within minutes of Pike Place. Staff were friendly and took great care of us.
“Great Hotel!”
Stayed here one night after coming in off of the Victoria Clipper from Victoria BC. The location is excellent, right accross from piers and bay. The staff was great too, very friendly. I called down to front desk and asked for a taxi at 5:30 AM, walked down to the lobby in less than 5 minutes and a car was already waiting for us. Great service, would stay here again.
“Great Hotel, In-house restaurant poor”
I was doing an 8-day Amtrak trip that carried me from Iowa to Chicago, Seattle, Sacramento, and back to Iowa. I'm 62 and have some mobility issues. My train arrived in Seattle around 11:00 AM and I was tired; the hotel put me in a room despite my early arrival time. Staff were friendly, the room was clean and comfortable. My only real complaint was this hotel does not have in-room WiFi and the hardwire internet connect is an additional $12 per day. Most hotels in which I stay offer free in-room WiFi and I wasn't impressed. The only thing I really wanted to do during my overnight stay in Seattle was a quick visit to Pike Place Market and to eat breadbowl chowder. The Mariott Waterside is about 5 blocks from the Market. Even though a public elevator is available for most of the steep hill, there's still a challenging up-hill walk for someone with mobility issues. The fact that I don't get around very well means that I often rely on in-house hotel restaurants. I ate supper and breakfast at the restaurant. My supper comprised onion soup, filet minon, baked potato, and green beans. The onion soup was done with Walla Walla sweet onions and was WAY TOO sweet. I ordered my steak cooked to medium and it came raw in the middle -- not pink -- RAW! The green beans were absolutely tasteless. I'm not a fussy eater, but expected better for the price. The breakfast buffet was okay, but staff were not prepared at the stated opening time (food was not prepared).
“Great visit”
This hotel is excellent relative to location, service and access to all the major tourist activities. We were there in the peak of the Lions club convention, which "strained" a few of the services, but we would definitely return to this location if you want to be downtown in Seattle.
“Not the best hotel for business travelers”
I stayed here to attend a technology conference with 1,500+ attendees and exhibitors and... no room internet. I called to ask about it, and they said it was down and they didn't know when it would be fixed, but they had WiFi in the lobby. Woopie doo -- I needed to log into work before and after the conference each day and sitting in the lobby to use WiFi is simply no substitute for room access when you're paying this much for a room. I spoke to a manager about the next day and she said it was fixed and they would give me a free day's use... but it was NOT fixed. Never worked the three nights I stayed here -- but they charged me for it anyway. That floored me! They don't drop a newspaper in front of your door each night, so you have to go to the lobby to pick up a paper (presumably not in your pj's). And, to top it off, they do not offer Fox Sports in the rooms, so if you think you will be able to relax after a long day with a Seattle Mariners game or another West Coast MLB game, think again. They told me they offer that channel in the bar, but again, that's no substitute for being able to actually enjoy this kind of thing the quasi-waterfront room you are paying through the nose for. Bottom line -- there are lots of nice hotels in Seattle that are conveniently located that actually provide services like internet access in your room and daily papers and decent TV channel selection for business travelers. I won't be staying here again.
“The way to enjoy Seattle”
This hotel has the ideal location to enjoy the city and feel the relaxation needed for a vacation.
“Best in Seattle”
Breakfast was awesome and service was even vetter....kind and friendly loved my stay there
“Great location!”
Wherein the hotel is located in a great location, I would not recommend it for persons driving and having to park their cars there. The valet parking was astronomical and was more than the rental car fee. The hotel caters more to business travelers than vactioners.
“Great Seattle experience.”
Great location near downtown across the street from Elliott Bay. Hotel staff was very helpful with any request. Would definitely stay here again. Seattle is beautiful.
“Would definitely return to this hotel”
The hotel was fantastic and in a great location. The restaurant, however, was a complete disaster! No one knew what tables they were supposed to be waiting on and we had to wait for a table even though there were plenty empty. They did call in reinforcement from the room manager who i spoke to briefly about how unorganized the restaurant was. She agreed and things started running smoothly. We were there for breakfast and it still took us an hour to get out of there
