“cheap and good value”
cheap and good value, extra good if you needed to be near UW.
“Charming”
Great location for business at the University of Washington, or for attending a sports event. Shower and toilet are down the hall.
“nice and cozy”
at first, i was a little scared about the hotel. when we arrived, it was confusing. i should have done more research online about my hotel. it was such a cute place! everything was great, except for the flight of stairs and the sharing of bathrooms. other than that, it was awesome. great service. the manager was so helpful. if i go back to seattle, i would definitely stay there again!
“No Surprises”
I knew what I was getting. Remember, there is no bathroom attached to the room, just a sink.
“Lovely Old Fashioned Inn right in the center of the University District”
The place is lovely, the bathrooms are shared but it just adds to the overall feeling of the inn.
“Two major caveats”
I liked staying here, but there were a few things I wish I knew going in. First, the rooms don't have their own bathrooms, only shared ones down the hall. In the men's room on my floor there were two shower stalls and one enclosed toilet, so I sometimes had to wait a while to use the facilities. Also, BYOB (Bring Your Own Bathrobe). Second, there is no publicly accessible "front desk" or lobby. There's an office on the 4th floor (no elevator either) where you check in, but it's closed from 11am - 3pm, so you can't check-in or even enter the building for the first time if you arrive in the late morning or early afternoon (after you check-in you can enter with your key). Other than this, it was fine once I got used to the no-frills nature of it. Good complimentary breakfast and free wireless were nice to have.
“If I ever go back I will definitly stay here again.”
I had a very nice stay at the College Inn. In fact I don't know why they are rated 1 star! The bedding was severely comfortable. The breakfast was very good as well. The hotel wasn't far from a nice park, bus stops, and various restaurants. The staff was very helpful and nice. Overall the hotel is very charming. One set back was that some of the cleaning supplies could be seen in the bathrooms by the toilettes. I've never been in a hotel where they have been set out before... The floors squeaked, but that wasn't too big of a deal for me. I loved my stay here.
“Fixed the problem”
We had an issue with our first room...couldn't open the windows because of a gas leak outside and the smell was overwhelming but as soon as we commented on it they moved us to another room and all was well.
“Good price and room, minus the smokey hall ways”
Must be able to climb 4 flights of stairs to check-in (on level 4), then the rooms are on levels 2 and 3. Neat cafe next to hotel, good coffee. Olden European/Russian atmosphere. Not very bright in rooms at night,if trying to study, needs more lamps. During the day its great if you have a corner room and the blinds are open to let the sun shine in. The Bathroom is down the hall, but kept up in shape and is clean. Think dorm room style living. The stairwell smells of smoke, but the individual floors and rooms are no smoking and don't smell as bad, yet it still travels about in the air. Good price compared to surrounding hotels. If not going to stay in room much, but do more traveling around this area it is your best deal. Good continental breakfast, lots of choices. Minus the smoke (just open the windows) its nice.
“Seattle stay”
I expected worse. It was actually far better than expected. Moreover, right next door is a cafe and a grocary tsore--so you can easily get everything you want. The area is safe and easy to walk to the medical center. You do have to share a bathroom--but no issues with not being available for use. Also there is not TV--but free wireless internet--so you can stream from the internet.
