“Great for tourists on a budget, but...”
I stayed here because I needed to be close to the University of Washington campus. The location certainly can't be beat, and the surrounding neighborhood has lots of small cafes and restaurants that cater to a young crowd. The pub which is downstairs was a little loud on Friday night, which might be a problem depending on your tolerance for noise. My room was beautiful and very clean, and the bed was deliciously soft. Breakfast in the morning was standard continental fare (bread, bagels, yogurt, fruit), and plentiful. Bathrooms/showers at the end of the hall were clean and well-stocked; there is also a washbasin and mirror in each guestroom. My only complaint is punctuality, or lack thereof. Check in time is supposed to be 3 PM; however no one showed up to the office until nearly 3:45, despite repeated calls to the listed "after-hours" number. When the guy did show up, he didn't apologize, just complained about having to walk up 4 flights of stairs. Well, so did we -- with our luggage! It wouldn't be a problem if you were just a tourist, but several of us had to be at a meeting at the University at 4. Unfortunately this was repeated the next morning, when the 7 AM breakfast was delayed till nearly 7:30. I'd stay here again if I were coming to Seattle for vacation, but if you have time constraints, stay somewhere where the staff wears wristwatches.
“Very bad”
Very bad, small room, need to share bathroom, the windows can't be closed, very cold, near the main street and a pub there, very noisy
“Its what you pay for.”
Its a really good price but the main issue I had was with the beds. The sheets were not clean, had many stains and had lots of hair that was not mine. And the bed ended up being so uncomfortable I slept on the cement floor and had a better night sleep there. But except for the bed it is a good deal. Good location and a good price.
“Too bad”
They don't have any respect for a customer. They didn't fulfill the required standards.
“Convenient for the U district”
Cheap stay near the university. Very convenient but nothing special. It is an old building with shared bathrooms on each floor. It is reasonably priced for the what you get.
“Excellent value”
It is a basic hotel right next to the UW campus and very conveniently located with respect to public transportation. It has its quirks (no breakfast until 8 am on Saturday) but overall it is a fine and simple place at an excellent location. The room was clean, and the bathroom/shower down the hall was OK too. Hotel staff was friendly and efficient.
“convenient, minimalist, and true”
First, understand that this is a minimalist place to stay. There are no swimming pools, televisions, or private bathrooms. It's more like a bed and breakfast. Next, understand that if you have business with the University of Washington you are on the door step. The hotel can't get more convenient! Finally, I loved the feel of the place. I slept with the windows wide open, cool seattle night, sea gulls squawking, crazy guys yelling it up at three AM on the University Ave, all the sounds of the area, esp the gentle rain. Loved it. And before you hit the sack, wander up the ave for excellent food at dozens of hole-in-the-wall joints - a block away is the best bi-bim-bop you'll ever eat. Follow that up with a stop at the Big Time brewery and/or hit the bar in the basement. If you can't love this place then you already have one foot in the grave, dude!
“Not Impressed”
I wasnt aware the rooms didn't have showers in each room, instead I had to go down the hall with a bunch of strangers and share the restroom and showers. School days that would have been fine but not today. I believe customers should be aware of this. The cost was high for what it was worth. The parking is aweful, had to get up before 7AM and get my car off the street.or go park three blocks away and walk back to room in unlighted areas. Not a very safe neighborhood.
“Amazing experience with College Inn!”
I loved this inn because it was so homey! The sheets and bedding didn't smell like bleach, the hallway didn't smell like industrial cleaner, and the people were amazing! It felt extremely home-y and I was extremely satisfied with the place as a whole! The only problem I had was that the door to the inn isn't immediately obvious and the lobby is on the fourth floor, meaning you have to lug up all your stuff to the fourth floor before going to your room. However, I think the price and the quality of the inn more than make up for that!
“comfortable, clean and in a great location”
if you know what to expect, especially in terms of shared bathrooms on the floor like in a college dorm, you should be well satisfied with this hotel. I had a very pleasant stay. The rooms are simply furnished but spacious, comfortable, and clean and in addition to towels guests are given bathrobes, which was very nice. The breakfast room rarely opened on time at 7am o'clock (it was normally 5-10 minutes later) but the food was acceptable and with a few different options (although I would not recommend their coffee, it was not brewed afresh in the morning). The staff was always nice and friendly. The hotel is in a great location, nearby many eating options at reasonable prices. If you are a young person or young at heart, I would definitely recommend this place.
