“it did the job”
this appears to be a convenient site for people working in or visiting the port facilities nearby. it is a clean, quiet,place to sleep. if you require fancy, go somewhere else.
“Good hotel for the money.”
Hotel is commonly used as long term rentals for military. It was a bit out of the way and "well worn", but clean and quiet. Great deal for the money.
“Cheap, but nice”
Friend's wedding in Savannah, Georgia so it was convenient, and affordable. Not a place for a romantic getaway.
“Good rate, bad area”
The price was good, the distance from downtown Savannah was good, the surrounding area was not good (wrong side of the bridge...). The room was mediocre. The cabinets were missing and the colors seemed a little drab and old, but the room was spacious if nothing else. Our A/C was not working when we checked in but was fixed promptly and perfectly after I told the manager.
“Value for money”
Good value if you're only looking for place to put your head for the night. Problem was that everything smelt of cigarette smoke.(I did not request a non smoking room).
“I'ts OK for a day, but not a complete vacation”
Driving up to the check in area, you can see they have taken great strides to improve the look and feel of the hotel. Once inside our room, it was not a common room. They have been working on the rooms and have painted the walls with "Garage flake paint" which really looks good. The AC unit was mounted in the back wall up near the ceiling where you cant reach or see the controls without having to climb on the counter. Our room did have a kitchen with oven, sink, frige and cabinets, however no doors on the cabinets or on the closet. There were not pots/pans to cook with or ANYTHING at all in the kitchen. When we tried to call the office to report an issue, the phone didn't work. Also the bathroom has no exhaust except a window which faced the front of the building, so you really couldn't open the window. We also had to change rooms because our door did not lock allowing anyone to simply walk in. Although I am not a prejeduce (sp!) person, the care takers were middle eastern and I was actually afraid to complain too much. I actually heard one of the men arguing with a customer on the phone as to why the customer was cancelling his reservation. I didn't blame the customer.
“Terrible Service... do not book a room here.”
The hotel is completely over rated online. The surrounding area is dirty, scary, sketchy... basically they take a picture of two nice fountains in the area and nice looking buildings and of a room that probably isn't even at that motel and then they post those photos online. What you do not see is the truck stop surrounding the motel, and the trailer park DIRECTLY next door. We stayed in a "suite" at the motel and it had bed bugs, was filthy, smelled disgusting, and had rotten food in the cabinets when we walked in. The manager also wanted to charge us extra for having more than four people when we paid specifically for a suite that had four DOUBLE beds and a couch because we had seven people. Why would we get a suite with double beds for only four people? And why would he try to charge us 25 dollars extra per person for having more than four people at a motel that was crappy anyways? Because they are CHEAP! Honestly the entire time I was scared of the surroundings, scared of our neighbors at the hotel, and just furious about how misleading the American Inn website truly is.
