We booked a smoking room originally as the non smoking was sold out, when we got there the room stunk, the wallpaper was peeling, the towels were old and smelly and the room was generally not upto standard. The staff fortunately were able to get us a non smoking room which we swapped too, it was a little better but still generally a little grubby and old but much better than the smoking room. We had stayed in other equally as old hotel in Japan which had been nicer. We also had a friend stay at the APA hotel just 100m from this one in Sapporo, his cost the same and seemed a little better
