“End of Year Stay”
I have stayed at this inn several times in the past. I was pleased with the new changes and renovations. The Continental Breakfast is above and beyond in a 50's style diner setting. Fantastic environment. The rooms are a great value for the price and would highly recommend this inn to friends and family.
“Family-friendly Retro Travel Motel”
The Sandman is an adorable retro-vintage motel located squarely in the action on State Street. My room was immaculate and well appointed. Staff were friendly and helpful when I needed directions or a suggestion for local restaurants. The only problem I encountered was slow and unreliable WiFi service. I travel light and use my iPad for everything from directions to local attractions to handling business email while on the road so the WiFi issue was a nuisance. Beyond this tiny problem, the motel was great - very well maintained, cute, quiet at night and well-staffed. I will enthusiastically recommend The Sandman Inn to other travelers.
“A sweet spot full of pleasant little surprises”
A sweet spot full of pleasant little surprises -- nice grounds, pools, very comfy beds, quiet, clean, toothpaste in the toiletry basket, generous continental breakfast, hot coffee and oranges in the lobby, free DVD lending library. They didn't have to do that! We got a deal so good on Expedia and got way more than we paid for.

I will definitely choose to stay here again. This hotel is in a quiet area on State St, so it's quick and easy to get to the beaches or downtown, but away from the noise and crowds. There are 2 pools and a very nice hot tub. The rooms are on the ground floor, no stairs or elevator needed. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast iwas delicious, many choices. There is herbal tea, coffee and fruit at all times in the lobby. I felt safe and enjoyed my stay. The bed was comfortable and the rooms clean.

The Sandman is great value in a convenient location. Beautiful landscaping, average rooms but very comfortable. Right across from Whole Foods and not far from Renauds Patisserie - excellent!

The rooms were clean and the staff was friendly. They provided gym access via a very updated YMCA a block away. The location was great - near a Whole Foods and other restaurants. They also had a pool and a microwave and mini fridge in the room. A GREAT value (what you get for the money). I highly recommend The Sandman Inn.
“When we go back to Santa Barbara, this hotel will be the first one I call.”
The motel was easy to find, was clean and neat. I was pleasantly surprised to find the accomendations very nice. The individuals manning the front desk were extremely helpful and polite. The price was right and fitted in with our plans neatly.
