Simple elegance

Posted 19-Aug-2014
3 1/2 stars. I liked this quaint hotel. We were greeted at the front with freshly baked chocolate chip cookies and fresh cold lemon water. We were also given complimentary bottles of water to take to our room. The room was clean and cozy. Everything worked well and the smell was clean. I liked the vanity sink outside of the shower/toilet area. The shower head has really low even for a guy 5'9". Feel sorry for the 6'2" man. He will have to bend over to bath. The best part was the Keurig coffee maker in the room. Terrific for a boutique hotel! The continental breakfast was surprisingly plentiful and fresh. The place had a small workout gym which I used comfortably. No wait and no lack of water or fresh towels. Check out was easy. No need to do anything but leave. Parking was fine except at night. The front packed in and although I didn't need to look elsewhere I'm sure there was parking in the back. All in all it was nice. It's not a raider by any stretch and I would've loved a pool but we only stated one night so it worked perfect. Got my bang for the buck. Used expedia and paid $153 per night. With fees it came to $166. It was worth it.

Very clean hotel and very quiet considering

Posted 1-Jul-2014
We just stayed one night and found the hotel very clean and comfortable. It was conveniently located on the main street and the room was very quiet considering the constant traffic. Also an easy walk to Castro St where all the restaurants and bars are located. Breakfast was a quick start to get us on our way.

Small but pleasant hotel

Posted 18-Jun-2014
Pros: Helpful and friendly staff
Cons: Bigger area for the breakfast room
Location: The shopping area is about a 10 to 15 minute walk away but once there there is a variety of shops and restaurants.
Quite small but very comfortable. The whole property was obviously well looked after and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The rooms were well finished. All the rooms have heavy doors which don't seem to be able to be closed quietly. I was on the ground floor with the van hire place outside the window and guests who were going in and out of their room from about 5am. I would suggest that anyone who stays here should avoid rooms on the ground floor. The breakfast room by the front door is quite small so gets full quite quickly. I would stay here again though.

Hotel 15 minutes from Stanford

Posted 16-Jun-2014
Pros: Staff was friendly.
Cons: Make sure their is a refrigerator and microwave when promised!
Location: Stanford University is nearby.
The hotel staff was very friendly. Our room was reserved with the understanding that their would be a microwave and refrigerator in the room, but neither was in the room!

Great hotel!

I was in town for the week for work and stayed here. The price was probably more than I would have liked to pay but due to availability of surrounding hotels picked Hotel Vue. The hot breakfast in the morning was always stocked and the free wifi in the room was probably the fastest and most stable wifi I've had in a hotel. Overall, great hotel and I am looking forward to my next stay which so happens to be this upcoming week.

A little scary

Posted 9-Jun-2014 on Hotels.com
The hotel was fine, acceptable. However, I was approached by a man when I pulled up in the parking lot at 11:30 pm on a Sunday night. He was drunk and followed me, along with his drunk friend into the hotel. They continued to try to engage with me at the reception area. To my surprise, the hotel employee at reception handed over my room key with my room number displayed as these two drunk me stood next to me. As a woman traveling alone, it was disconcerting.

Eager to please

The hotel's been completely updated - the look was very inviting. The lobby was bright and beautiful and the bedding/furnishings in my room were modern and comfortable. I travel a LOT, so I'm somewhat picky, but this definitely was up to my standards. NOT like a motel at all - definitely a hotel experience. The building is older, but everything that matters has been redone except the bathroom. The location is very good - lots of restaurants and grocery nearby, very safe. My room looked over a Uhaul shop, so there's not really a view. What really impressed me was how eager the staff was to welcome you and make you feel at home. I'm pumping breast milk so I asked for a fridge. They ran out of individual refrigerators but put aside room in 2 refrigerators downstairs for me, and whenever I came down with more milk, they went out of their way to store it and make sure no one touched my milk bags. When I was checking out, the manager personally apologized and said to alert him next time I come up and he'll see to it that I get a fridge in my room. The cookies in the afternoon were very nice, as well as the breakfast.
