“Nice Hotel - Questionable Area”
Hotel was really nice - actually much better than expected. Very clean, well cared for, as nice as any 3+ star hotel in the States. If you are set on staying in San Jose, the Presidente is a very nice option (perhaps the only option near/in downtown).

Great hotel to stay, staff always friendly and helpful, always clean and comfortable, and of course the breakfast buffet is great and plentyful.

We visited Costa Rica in December 2010 and really enjoyed our vacation. The people are really friendly and helpful. We arranged all our tours through the tour desk at the Presidente Hotel and thoroughly enjoyed all our trips.

Very comfortable hotel with excellent service and friendly staff. The entire hotel is non-smoking which is a plus!
“Comfortable one-night stay”
We arrived late at night from our 11-hour trip from Panama and the room had just what we needed - hot shower, clean and comfortable beds, quiet surroundings, a/c,... We continued our journey the next day. Breakfast was great and included a buffet of fruit, cereal, croissants and other pastries, cheese and cold cuts selection, omelet/pancake station, and some local specialties (rice & beans, pulled pork with vegetables, and fried plantains). Staff was very friendly and accommodating. We liked the central location and would stay here again if we happen to be in San Jose in the future.

Outstanding location in central San Jose allows easy access to museums, multiple restaurants, stores and business locations within the downtown area. Great English speaking staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome.
