“Would definitely return”
This is an older San Francisco hotel, much quieter and classier than the glitzy brand new buildings.
“The Sweetest Deal Downtown”
This is an older hotel that has been well maintained. I have noticed that some of the reviewers have complained about the size of the rooms. If you are coming to San Francisco to stay in your room, this is not your hotel. If you are coming to enjoy the city, the location couldn't be better. I came to attend MacWorld at the Macones Center and found it was perfect. The front desk was amazingly helpful and very knowledgeable about public transportation. The rooms are clean and it appears to have been updated recently. I am planning on returning to SF later this year and I am definitely going to stay here again.
“comfortable hotel”
was walking distance to seminar, nice restaurants close by, friendly personnel, clean room.
“Fantastic Location !!!”
This hotel is in a fantastic location. It is VERY basic with no frills at all, but I'm happy to forgoe the frills for the location. One block from Union Square & the cable car lines. The only thing I missed in the room was the safe, there isn't one - but nothing went missing. The staff couldn't be more helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. I would happily stay there again & have already recommended to friends.
“Excellent. Be reasonable and you'll be fine.”
If you're already used to traveling around, you'll be fine. If you're new to traveling, you'll be fine. If you're a reasonable human being, you'll be fine. If you respect the staff as human beings, you'll be fine. It might sound silly to have to mention all this, but it has to be said. If there's an issue, you go to the front desk, you report it, and you wait patiently. If there's a chance that it could be fixed in 5min, then take a load off and wait in the lobby for 5min. If you're able-bodied, ask how you can assist. In other words, be a reasonable human being. For example, the internet on my floor went out. I reported it to the front desk, and the front desk looked into it. I have internet tech support experience, so I offered to help verbally troubleshoot the issue. 5-10min later, the internet was back on. The only thing that consistently bothered me at all is that the radiator didn't keep the room comfortably warm enough at night for me. I asked the front desk about it and was told the completely understandable explanation that the local weather is usually never anywhere near as cold as it indeed was that week. The radiator was fine as-is, it's just designed for San Francisco's usual climate. The daily room cleaning service was excellent considering (as always with any hotel) its star rating. They're not going to put a mint on your pillow but the bathroom will be clean and the room and bed will be straightened when you get back.
“Great deal”
Union Square Plaza is close to everything so the location is perfect. The homeless are all around but that's not the hotel's fault. The hotel was surprisingly clean and friendly. Would definitely stay there again.
“stay here cheap”
I consider this place a bargain. As nice or better than most franchise hotel I've stayed. No frills but right downtown.Great location, person at desk answered lots of questions.I would certainly book here again. The only negative thing I would say is that it was rather noisy outside my window like dumpster lids slamming and banging late at night/early morning. If all you're gonna do is sleep here it's perfect. don't stay here with kids
“Right in the Middle of Everything, so could not have been better placed”
The hotel is Comfortable, very clean and nice people at the desk. The collaction could not have been better as you come out and you have the shops, theatres, cable car and buses and you can walk everywhere from there. really brilliant and superb value for money totally.
“Hidden little spot to stay”
Union Square is a bustling area of shops and entertainment. Right around the corner is a small hotel called Union Square Plaza Hotel that was perfect in every way. Good service, clean, great location. I would definitely come back to this hotel
