“WHAT A NICE SURPRISE !!!”

i WASN'T REALLY SURE ABOUT STAYING AT THIS HOTEL BECAUSE I THOUGHT MAYBE WE WERE GOING TO GET WHAT WE PAID FOR. TO MY SURPRISE IT WAS A VERY COMFORTABLE ROOM,WITH EVERYTHING YOU NEED, A VERY QUIET PLACE AND THE GUY AT THE DESK WAS SUPER NICE. I REALLY CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK THERE AGAIN.

“Great Location for the money”

I would stay here again. I did not have great expectations as the hotel was inexpensive and it was exactly what I expected. All the previous reviews mentioned location and feeling safe in the neighborhood which is exactly what we wanted and what we got. There are great restaurants one block down and the Union Street shops are within walking distance. I would definitely stay again as all I look for in a hotel is a clean safe place to sleep and shower!

Hey it was no Hilton or anything but it served me well. I got there a few hours before check in. They were able and gladly let me check in early. My room was clean and there is free wi-fi! There are plenty of places to eat near by (and I mean a ton of places). The hotel is on a busy street (hwy 101) but if you walk one block away very nice area to walk. It is a short walk to the marina with views of the bay...city, bridge etc. There are bus stops close by so using public trans makes it easy to get around.

“Great neighborhood”

The location for this little hotel was great. We especially like the surrounding neighborhood. Lots of great places to eat and drink. Perfect access to the Golden Gate Bridge if you're heading to Napa.......

“A Real Surprise”

Judging from the outside my wife and I were, at first, very worried about this hotel when we saw it. However, we were quite surprised to find a real diamond in the rough!!! There was one mix-up with our reservation. We had booked a king size bed through Expedia.com which we verified by our receipt. However, we were assigned two queen beds. The hotel was fully booked so we were stuck with what we got. All in all not a big deal for us. Once we got into our room we were very surprised to find a modern, clean and quite comfortable room, complete with crown molding and granite counters. Best of all is that it came with FREE parking!!! It was a great location in the city with a short drive or bus ride to Fisherman's Wharf. The bus station is just one block behind the hotel. The street directly behind the hotel is Chestnut. It had several great restaurants and a Walgreen's which was a real convenience! I guess I would have to say I have stayed in nicer but for vacationing on a tighter budget than we were used to this was an excellent place to stay.

It was hard to find an inexpensive hotel that is both clean and has a free parking. I found the right one! Customer service was great as well.

“Finally found a San Francisco hotel to always go back to!”

We read the previous reviews about TravelLodge Golden Gate before we went there, and hoped that it would be satisfactory. We found that is was even more than satisfactory! The room was small, but completely sufficient. The bathroom was updated, there was a hair dryer and an iron (which I didn't expect). The bed wasn't a pillow top, but it wasn't bad, and we were able to get plenty of rest. One thing we should have remembered to ask for was a room towards the back to avoid some of the traffic (next time!). And like the other reviews said, the office staff was so pleasant and helpful! We will definitely make this our first choice in a place to stay when we go back!
