Adjacent to the cable-car turnaround, San Francisco Visitor Information Center, and BART station, the Powell Hotel is within three blocks of the Yerba Buena Gardens and Union Square.
Open from early morning until late afternoon, the hotel's Cafe Bellini serves espresso drinks and sandwiches; seating is available in the lobby and upstairs mezzanine. The hotel also offers a Manager's Cocktail Reception, which includes a wine hour on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Guests may enjoy a complimentary glass of wine or a selection of micro-brews on the Mezzanine. Crudités, cheeses, pretzels are also options.
The Powell offers a one-way shuttle to the airport (surcharge) at scheduled times. Complimentary amenities include newspapers as well as wired Internet access and WiFi throughout the hotel. Front-desk staff will gladly assist with business services such as faxing and copying (surcharges); a conference room may be reserved for private meetings.

“Right in heart of union square<3”
Great hotel! Right in the heart of union square. Bed was so comfortable, and rooms are very clean! No ac, only a ceiling fan. Will stay again for sure =)
“Powell hotel it is great”
the hotel is small but have all you need it is verry near for all you need to know the cable car pass in front the hotel, do you have all the stores a cross the street like american eagle, gap,victoria secret etc.
“Great location, great price”
This hotel was very nice and convenient to all the activities that we had planned. We were able to walk to AT&T Park and Union Square as well as finding great restaurants very close by. The staff was friendly and helpful and check-in and out was smooth and painless.

L'hôtel est bien situé, dans un quartier vivant, aux pieds d'une station de cable-car, des bus, du Visitor Center, et des magasins de Union Square. Le staff est serviable et souriant, de la réception au personnel de chambre. Ma chambre était agréable, grande et propre, calme, seul bémol : vue donnant sur une cour interne, et donc luminosité de la pièce très limitée. Le wifi est gratuit dans les chambres, et un ordinateur est en accès libre à la réception. Un bon rapport qualité-prix eu égard au confort, au standing et à la situation de l'établissement. Je note résolument dans mes adresses.

i have never been to san fran so i wasn't sure on what neighborhood to stay in, but boy was i glad i chose the powell. it wasn't anything overly sartorial or upscale, but it was a good mix of urban class. very friendly service and a great location. valet was greaT! located right downtown among everything from shopping to restaurants!
“Extremely satisfied”
I definitely recommend this hotel. The service was excellent. We stayed in the Superior room and it was everything I anticipated. The room was spacious, clean and quiet. In addition, the beds were very comfortable. The room also had a flat screen T.V. which showed many great movies at night. The Hotel's location is the best-right in front of the cable car station and near all the wonderful shopping and eateries. The room also had a window with a great view outside. Believe me, I spent hours searching for the best hotel for the price and it doesn't get better than the Powell Hotel. I will being staying here the next time I'm in San Francisco.
“Very good”
Despite our late arrival the Hotel staff was very kind, and I was very pleased with both the location of the Hotel and the room which we stayed in. The had a very large California King sized bed, a flatscreen television, and a lovely dresser and mirror. It was a comfortable and wonderful stay, I would certainly stay here again.

Hotel was nice, the location was great the Cable car turn around was right outside of the hotel. Not far from Fisherman's Warf very convenient.
“Great Location!!”
This hotel is in the middle of everything... cable car, shopping, restaurants, bars, chinatown, bus stops... all!! The room was a small size compared to newer hotels but, great in style! We really loved the location.
“Nice”
The location of the Powell was great and the hotel staff could not have been more helpful or more friendly. Our room was on the front of the hotel at the cable car turn around so it was very noisy late into the night. Also, my husband and I were given TWIN beds rather than the queen we requested but we were so tired at the end of the day from sight seeing, it wasn't a big deal. For the money though, we loved it.
