“Without a doubt we will be back!”
It is located in an amazing neighborhood that is safe and beautiful. The staff constantly asked if they could do more for us. The breakfast choices offered were excellent! The personality came from the age of the hotel - we loved it!
“A classy hotel off the beaten path on the quiet summit of Pacific Heights”
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Though off the beaten path and far removed from the touristy areas, the Hotel Drisco is situated on the summit of the Pacific Heights neighborhood smack dab in a quiet residential area of multi-million dollar homes. Adorned with vintage furnishings, the accommodations were comfortable and charming and definitely four star quality as advertised. Expecting a typical all inclusive "continental breakfast" fare, we were quite surprised by the extensive offerings of fresh squeezed OJ, coffeees, teas, pastries, bagles, oatmeal, signature jellies, and fruit provided in an elegant front parlor on a daily basis. My wife and I consider ourselves to be seasoned travelers and I must confess that the conceirge service from the front desk staff (Elizabeth & Bob) was the best we've experienced. Always pleasant and extremely helpful, their recommendations were dead on and much appreciated. Our only criticism would be that getting around from that location required calling a cab or walking a few blocks to get public transportation...and walking meant traversing the hills of San Francisco which qualifies as a cardio workout.
“Great location”
We enjoyed the walk around the neighborhood with the brochure provided by the hotel. Very nice breakfast.
“Best hotel anywhere near Pacific Heights!”
the staff at this hotel, from front desk to bellman to housekeeping, is extremely warm and accommodating. lots of charm and elegance. wonderful free breakfast and wine & cheese hour. must stay here.
“A calm oasis, an elegant and comfortable hotel, beautiful view and great service”
Its not often that you find perfection. We spent only one night - the night of our 35th wedding anniversary there. Great view, lovely spacious suite, fresh air off the ocean - natural air conditioning, excellent breakfast and cocktail hour. We will be back. Loved every minute.
“Delightful hotel in a beautiful neighborhood”
Such a beautiful hotel! The staff is very helpful. John (at the front desk) cheerfully went online, checked us in for our flight home, and printed our boarding passes. They even moved our car for us, so we wouldn't get a ticket. It is street parking, but we had no problem finding a spot (and no parking fee). The complimentary breakfast was excellent. It reminded me of the breakfasts we had in europe. There was a nice evening wine and cheese reception (also complimentary). The staff turned down our bed each night and left delicious chocolate cookies. The hotel toiletries smelled wonderful! (lemon verbena) In general, we had an excellent experience at the Hotel Drisco.
“Lovely stay”
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We booked the suite and had a lovely view of the bay and surrounding area. It is located in Pacific Heights and the surrounding area is unique. Be sure to take a walk in the area. Lyon Street matches Lombard in many ways. It is also adjacent to the Presidio, and you can make a morning run through this unique landscape. Staff was pleasant and helpful. We can't wait for a return trip. It is on the expensive side but in my opinion well worth the cost.
“A wonderful experience”
We picked this hotel based on the Expedia reviews. It is a gem; a renovated boarding house from 1903. The first impression on entering the hotel was warm and welcoming. On arrival, we received a tour of the hotel, especially the sitting room (with hot water for tea and mulled wine at all times, appetizers in the late afternoon) and the dining room on the lower level. The front desk staff and bellman were always very helpful, offering advice on restaurants, sights, and routes to take. They gladly ordered taxis and held them for us if need be. The room was a nice size, cozy, and the bed very soft. The turndown cookies (oatmeal with chocolate coating) were wonderful. Heat is from hot water radiators in the rooms--if too warm, just open a window a bit. Breakfast buffet is served in the lower dining rooms; an excellent assortment of fresh pastries, granola mix, fruit, milk, fresh squeezed OJ, yogurt, cheese, etc. Note, they do place a large dish of peanut butter with the breakfast buffet, which could cause issues for those with severe allergies. This hotel (more like a largish B&B) is nestled in Pacific Heights, so is not central. However, it is only a block to the #3 bus stop, which takes you to Union Square for $1.50, and from there one can go most places. Alternatively, order a cab, but that gets expensive all the time.
“A San Francisco treasure.”
Charming small hotel. Quiet, lovely residential neighborhood. We have stayed here for years--- starting when guests could buy bacon by the slice at breakfast. Not terribly close to downtown, but that is the reason it is so quiet and peaceful. Helpful staff. Our favorite hotel in San Francisco
