“Historic Charm, Modern Attitude”
A hotel must have good bones if in its first year it survives a historic earthquake! The Hotel Andrew, in a great locale, has all the charm of historic SF and a staff that responds to guests with a knowing sense that this is the guests time to retreat and vacation. Valet car parking, while a bit slow, is a great convenience in this walkable city. The complimentary evening wine was a nice transition into the night and the continential breakfast a good morning starter. We'll be back.

I regularly go to SF for a conference in the spring. I love to walk in this city and so I intentionally stay in Union Square because it's within walking distance of the convention center. This was my first stay at The Andrews Hotel. Grace Cathedral is just up the hill (a really steep hill!). Shopping and great restaurants are all closed by. If you like spacious, luxurious accomodations, this may not be the hotel for you - space in the bathroom is tight and the room is pretty basic but I don't spend much time in my hotel room. It had everything I needed - plenty of hot water, decent water pressure, good towels, complimentary wifi, and windows that open! I loved staying at the Andrews Hotel! It has an old fashioned feel when you walk in and complimentary ice water, coffee and tea and fresh fruit! in the lobby around the clock. The staff was friendly - never intrusive. I even love the old elevator and curvy staircase to the second floor. Thumbs UP!!!
“Will go back, was located central to our needs. Bus, etc.”
The bathroom sink was clogged and a bit disturbing, but we had a great time and there were a lot of great restaurants. Public transportation was close and we got where we needed to in a timely manner
“Quaint Little Getaway”
I was completely surprised by the Andrews Hotel. I read reviews prior to booking and felt for the price, it would suit my needs. It was beyond my expectations-- granted the rooms are not overly big with small bathrooms but still offered comfort. The morning breakfast was wonderful and just steps outside of my room. I liked the fact they had a person at the front desk 24 hours. And the location was the best perk- just 3 blocks away from Union Square. Overall, it was a nice hotel and would stay there again.
“Great value hotel in excellent location”
Great value hotel in an excellent location close to Union Square and cable car. Free breakfast and wine a real bonus. Vino resturant which is attached to the hotel has excellent Italian meals. Friendly staff.
“Looking forward to returning...”
Had a great, great stay. Stayed here ten years ago and was happy to see that the hotel is still just as nice as we remember it to be. Superb location. Small but charming and quaint rooms (just pretend that you're in Europe). Friendly, helpful staff. Ideal breakfast...right outside your door.
“Convenient and cozy”
I have preferred to stay near Union Square during several trips to SF. This hotel has been the best to date. Convenient walking location to most sights. Cable car is so very close, but walking to Nob Hill is more than fun and aerobic. Rooms are cozy, complete with steam heat from radiators. Breakfast is right outside your door and ample. I would stay here again.
