“Regency Inn, SanFrancisco, Great Place to stay”
everything was outstanding at this small, out-of-the-way inn. I would definitely stay there again. The daily breakfast was excellent, parking was nearby, and both were included in the excellent room price; staff was very helpful and they even printed the directions to my cousin's house for the New Year's Eve party we were invited to. Mass transportation is close by.
“Wonderfully renovated, safe, clean, friendly”
Although this hotel was in the middle of skid row, the facility was clean, safe and comfortable. They recently upgraded and it showed. I loved the colors they used on the walls, not tacky nor cheap but soothing, clean looking and contemporary. All the staff we came in contact with were VERY nice and accomodating. They seemed happy to be there. I loved the view from our room which was bigger than I expected, very clean and included a small refrigerator as well as a microwave and table to sit at. The bathroom was clean and felt like home. The price was very reasonable and even included a free continental breakfast. I would definitely stay here again.
“Great Place in San Francisco!”
This was absolutly the most wonderful choice to stay in San Francisco! The staff was exceptional and extremely kind! Thank you for the wonderful weekend!
“A NICE UGLY”
First thought when I pulled up to the hotel was "OK, I'M OUT!". This is because of the bums surrounding the neighborhood. But, I decided to check out the inside while I was here before moving hotels. The inside was very nice. Everything has been renovated and looks very clean. I was pleasantly surprised. The building is old as you can tell, but everything is looks pretty good. Room was very clean and not to mention the little old man at the front desk, who I think owns the hotel, was so nice. He even threw in free parking even though he was originally going to charge us. So if you can stand a walk by a good number of bums, then this hotel is definitely worth the money.
“Great value!”
very friendly staff, nice clean descent sized room, on the smaller size though. everything was nice, clean and looked well kept. nice tasty free breakfast and proximity-to-the-center-wize great location, saying that, though, streets arent the cleanest in the area, and there are some shady figures in the streets. nothing unsafe though, just a bit creepy. overall - good location, great value!
“Good location, decent rooms”
Its not the fanciest, but for the price it was a good quality hotel which included a light continental breakfast (and waffle maker!) The rooms were clean. Noise from the street was loud at night. Parking lot discount of $15/day and the lot is a block away. I stay here with my 2 small children and my husband dropped us off at the lobby while he went to park the car...wouldn't want to walk your kids around the neighborhood at night. But during the day it's fine and there is a bus stop right at the curb. Close to lots of food and is in the heart of the city. Stayed November 2011
“Bring earplugs until they upgrade the windows-could be a great place!”
The manager/owner tells us they will replace all the windows in the next month or two. Street noise made it impossible to sleep. Also, even though expedia and their web site said parking was included, the front desk said our rate did not include parking. She was very pleasant but said our rate only covered breakfast and the room. All in all a good deal but very frustrating that we were under the impression all of it was covered in one price. The room was very clean and had a lot of charm with wrap around windows and a large walk in closet. Great view of the street and surrounding city lights breakast was a combo of pasty, cereal and belgium waffles. Feels like a nice budget European hotel. When they change the windows, I'll come back..
“Close to Civic Center Plaza”
A good price, close to the civic center plaza. The room was small, but had new carpet and fresh paint. The parking was $15 a day at their small lot down the street.
“Okay for a Quick One Nighter on the Town”
The front desk was very helpful and nice. The area of town is a bit on the 'edgy' side, but since I used to live in San Francisco I knew the area well and what to expect. I was there on a Friday night and it was bustling with activity! There was some art student party event going on down the street so that may have added to it. We got back to the hotel at 1:30 am and it was mostly homeless/sketchy people around, but I grew up in a big city so it was no big deal to me. The parking garage situation was a bit weird though. Had to drive a block away and the gate was closed to the garage structure. Went in the open door to the side of it and some guy came out of the back and opened the gate. Be warned - there is no in/out at this garage! Once you park your car is stuck there until you leave. The parking spaces were very tiny too- we have a Toyota Highlander and could barely fit. Anyone with a truck would not fit there. Also, there were only about 10 parking spaces total.
“Cost effective and friendly”
The hotel was well maintained. The staff was warm and friendly. The neighbor hood had a unique ethnic charm. The area is called "Little Saigon". One negative was that the area had lots of homeless people , some of whom were aggressive.
