“Great Half Moon Bay Hotel”
I really enjoyed staying at this hotel. The rooms are very nicely decorated and have their own small kitchen area. The staff was very attentive and friendly. The proximity to stores and restaurants is great. There is an indoor mall attached to the hotel.
“Very Impressed!”
We were completely amazed by every detail at Oceano! The staff is wonderful and very attentive. We were there for my best friends wedding and not only did they accomodate the bride & groom, but all of the guests who attended their wedding. The rooms were very clean and the beds were comfy. We will definitely go back and would recommend Oceano to anyone visiting Half Moon Bay.
“Le calme à 30 mn de San Francisco”
Hôtel parfait, tranquille, personnel disponible, très sympathique, on nous a upgradé à l'enregistrement dans une suite, très confortable, grande sdb, grand lit, cheminée, balcon, etc. Vraiment très bien, si vous voulez une retraite tranquille, au bord de l'océan, en étant en même temps proche de San Francisco, de Santa Cruz ou de la Silicon Valley, c'est un très bon choix.
“Great location for touring HWY 1”
This hotel was at a perfect location for us to tour San Francisco going north and Santa Cruz/Monterrey going south. The service was great and the room was very comfortable and clean.
“Peace and Tranquility”
Oceano Hotel was a welcome surprise at the end of my vacation. I stayed in Carmel for a week and was flying out of SFO at noon so decided to head north to Half Moon Bay the day prior to my flight to be closer to the airport; this made the drive to the airport less than 30 minutes. I enjoyed Carmel so much that I considered canceling my reservation at Oceano Hotel, but I am so glad I didn't. In fact, after staying one night at the Oceano Hotel I wished I had spent more time there, and I will stay there again as soon as possible. I was very pleasantly surprised by the beautiful lobby and overall appearance of the hotel-- much more attractive inside than the outside lets on--and the beach motif creates a very calm and peaceful feel. The hotel looks very new and fresh. And, did I mention clean? !!! My 2 main criteria for lodging are clean and comfortable, with luxury a close 3rd. This hotel exceeded by far my expectations. I reserved the room after reading reviews and looking at photos online of nearly every hotel/motel/inn in the Half Moon Bay area. The hotel is located just a few miles north of the town of Half Moon Bay in a secluded little spot known as Pillar Point. I explored the old downtown of Half Moon Bay with its quaint shops, and then settled into the lovely and comfortable hotel room/suite. Following the advice of another traveler's review I walked down the street to Mezza Luna for an incredibly delicious Italian dinner. It was fabulous! I will return soon :)
“Best kept secret - must stay here to appreciate!”
We just returned from celebrating our 20th anniversary at the hotel and the bay area. The hotel is one of the best hotels we have stayed in and worth every penny. Conviently located within walking distance to many great places to eat. Great view of the harbor and fishing boats. Some people in previous reviews complained about the fog horn that sounds every 8 seconds. Yes it does, and it didn't bother us one bit. If you don't want to hear the ocean and the fog horns, don't stay near the ocean - otherwise, what's the point. The rooms are nicely appointed and the fireplace was a nice way to sleep with the patio door open and keep the room comfortable without having the heat/blower come on. We would stay here again and recommend this to anyone looking for ocean views and great dinning nearby.
“Unexpected Treasure”
This hotel was uniquely beautiful, comfortable, and very well designed. The staff was outstanding and helpful at every point of our stay. The evening desk clerk who checked us in, even brought the cart to the garage to take our luggage to the room. Knowing he had a desk to manage, we took the cart and transported our own luggage .... but that was typical of the staff at this hotel. The design in the room was comforting, because of the furniture which was "falsely aged" to look antique, but looked beautiful. The bedroom and bathroom were very large, with high ceilings. There was a sleep/sound machine next to the bed, which was very effective. Our room overlooked the harbor, and we even grew accustomed to the fog horn sound from this working harbor. I add all this detail because several prior reviews were so negative. This hotel is a gem. A must see/stay.
“Great view, beautiful hotel.”
We booked through Expedia and got a great price for the room. The hotel staff were very friendly. They let us check in early. We were also upgraded to a full ocean view. The room was very clean and we weren't even bothered by the fog horn. We did find the WIFI was not easy to connect. It was very slow and sometimes we weren't able to connect at all. We really enjoyed our stay. We hope we can return again and we certainly stay at the Oceano.
“Would definitely recommend--Very courteous, helpful and attentive.”
I absolutely loved the spaciousness of the room--a beautiful king sized bed, sitting area, 2 televisions (yes, big enough for 2), refrigerator and wonderful bathroom. My room overlooked the harbor and it was nice to be able to see the sun set in the evening--I liked the Half Moon Bay location about 20 miles south of San Francisco with a beautiful drive into the city---Parking was complementary, which certainly balanced out the high cost of parking in San Francisco. My only negative comment about this location was the foghorn that went off every 10 seconds, 24/7, but the hotel had a nice "sound-maker" on the night stand so I could fall asleep with the sound of waves or rainfall---very nice. I would definitely stay here again. Also, the spa service was wonderful and right next to the hotel itself.
“Exceeded Expectations”
The location was what attracted us. This was a girls' weekend, and we could not have chosen a better place to stay. Our favorite restaurant is located in the same parking lot! We found great shopping around 10 minutes away, not to mention all the quaint restaurants and shops on the premises. But the best part was the view from our window. We chose one of the more inexpensive rooms, and the view of the harbor was still spectacular. The beds were the right mixture of firm and soft, the robes deliciously warm, and the overall feel of the place was warm. I will be coming back here with my husband for sure.
