“You get what you pay for”
The mattress on the bed was so hard I felt like I was sleping on a box spring and the hotel ran out of pilliows. For what I paid for the room though I didn't expect too much. A cheap one nighter, wouldn't sleep there for more then that.
“Not as Bad as Previous Reviews”
The reviews that the Oasis Hotel received in the past may have been due to previous constrution/remodeling, but my stay was just fine. I stayed with my sons, who are pre-teens, and I did not have any problems, other than parking at just after midnight. The underground parking was closed, and the gate down, but I was accomodated in the main parking at street level just fine. The room was fairly clean, and comfortable. Being from the mountains of California, I was a little unused to the level of noise, but that is to be expected in San Francisco. Overall, I would rate the hotel a fair place to stay, and for the price on a weekend, I would say that the rates are very reasonable.
“Oasis in should get rid of bugs!”
We stayed at Oasis in for two nights. Our room and bathroom were clean. There were no towels in the bathroom, but since receptionist was rude we didn't want to bother him. Next morning we asked another receptionist about towels and we got them right away. This place is close to Union Square, we just walked there which is good cause it's hard for parking over there. It was cold in our room even though heater was on. We really hoped that we won't see any bugs, but we saw them in the hallways and we had one in our room. They are big bugs, scary ones. Wouldn't go back mostly because of the bugs!
“Not the worst, but mos def not the best hotel ever”
When my boyfriend booked this hotel, we weren't expecting luxury. But we figured at least there was parking and the location was convenient. In reality, however, things were more ghetto than we were expecting. When we went up to the room to drop off our stuff before going out with friends, we noticed that there were no towels to be found anywhere. We asked downstairs at the desk and the guy said something about the cleaning people not showing up that day with fresh towels and that he wasn't allowed to leave his desk while on duty. He did promise to leave some towels for us at the front desk when he was relieved by the next desk attendant on duty. When we got back later that night, there was indeed a different guy working, but he was in the middle of a screaming fest with a lady who was very upset about the conditions of the hotel and threatening to call the police. Yikes! We were waiting to ask him about the towels and also to open up the gate downstairs so we could park in the garage. He totally ignored us, and he and the lady got more and more angry with each other. We went back out to give them some privacy, but after a few minutes we got fed up and were about to go in and interrupt when she stomped off. He didn't have the towels either, but brought some up. Don't ask me why the other guy didn't do that...but whatever. At least we could shower! Besides the general creepy run-down feeling there, there's a jacuzzi with about two inches of black and green water in it. Yuck!!
“Tommy's Joint!”
At first I wasn't happy with the room mix up (I confirmed a king size bed and got two double beds instead) but I'm not that picky so I just rolled with it. The hotel did offer to give me a room with a king size bed the following day but I just left things as is. The bathroom appeared to be updated and the room was comfortable. There was no air conditioning in the room but there was a heater. No matter how cool it is in San Francisco there was no way we can sleep with the window open due to all street noise. The tv remote didn't work well and we thought it was funny the volume only went up to 15. When we had the window we couldn't hear the tv.
“We got what we wanted and price was right.”
The Oasis was a clean place, off the beaten path..a 10 to 15 minute walk to City Hall, and just a few more to Market place, which led to the Cable Cars, Bus, Bart system, shopping, etc. Parking for vehicle was great in hotel lot. No frills with the room, fridge would have been nice. Coffee machine in room makes 1 cup. But good shop around corner. Friendly guests, Quiet.
“Maybe go back, one of good deal Hotels in SFO”
rather clean ,and quiet .
“Not good, use another if you can”
Bas service even for a hotel of his class. Run out of Hot water in the morning. Cheap service: they refill the shampoo bottles
“Cheap/centrally located/pretty gross”
If you don't mind wearing your shoes in your room, this hotel is cheap, centrally located to everything, opera, civic center, downtown, market, good restaurants, easy travel to fisherman's wharf, helpful staff,BUT it is only a place to lay your head. Sheets were clean, bathroom clean, paper thin walls, filthy outside, lock all the door lcoks, but it appeared everyone knew this place is only for sleeping. Think "the heart of the city tenement"!
“Buyer Beware”
First room had fleas in the bed. Requested different room and had no problems after that. Location was super. Walking distance to Bart. Local Area was a little rundown. Had a homeless person right outside the lobby door the first day. Would not go anywhere alone especially after dark.
