“Great experience”
I had an excellent stay at the Monarch. The room was very basic and small, but that's to be expected in San Francisco. Being able to wake up and take in the view out the window towards the TransAmerica building is a definite plus (try to get an east-facing room). It's located just south of Japantown and is within walking distance of Chinatown. I highly recommend the Monarch for any stay in the city.
“Very Nice Employees”
I've stayed here 3 times now and really like it.
“Lovely hotel, would love to go again!”
I had one of my greatest days in your hotel. Thank you!
“Functional Location, Quaint Room”
An older hotel that is clean and well maintained. Walking distance to everything I intended on visiting in the city. The street seemed a bit shady, but I didn't experience any problems. Nice little Diner down the street. For my purposes it was perfect.
“Nice little place”
This was quite a nice hotel for the price, which was much less than other San Francisco hotels. My only complaint was the lack of AC in the room, but that is very common in SF. The ceiling fan, wall fan and windows that open were an adequate replacement for the lack of AC. Free wireless in the lobby!
“Affordable and convenient.”
Nice Hotel. Friendly staff. Nothing fancy, but very affordable. Convenient neighborhood. If strip clubs and homeless people make you nervous, you should stay further east, because the neighborhood is seedy.
“I would recommend”
this hotel, after reading reviews I hoped it wasn't as bad as they were saying, since I had to get 2 rooms. The hotel service was good, & there was a parking garage around the corner. Now that was a plus! As for the homeless people I was not bothered, for they too are only looking for a place to sleep & not begging for money like they are in the day. As for traffic noise, one should expect that in the city..Overall this is a well kept hotel, clean rooms & for the price I've paid in the past to stay in S.F. which were more & not clean I've realized that sometimes more dollars doesn't mean a better place to stay.
“Great price for a comfortable stay!”
The Monarch proved to be perfect for a reasonably priced three-night leisure stay in San Francisco. The valet service was convenient, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and it was located with easy access to public transportation. There are plenty of eateries and stores nearby if needed and the bus around the corner takes you straight to Pier 39. My only complaints: the elevator was slow and rickety, and the struggling ice machine was inconveniently located in the basement. Don't recommend walking around the hotel at night alone.
“Great!”
Everything was just perfect.
