“Good enough for the price. Rooms very comfy!”

The neighborhood may not be the best in San Francisco, but it is a great hotel to spend the night, that's it.

“Basic and perfect”

No frills, just a nice place to stay, especially for business. Only 1 block to the gym, and the bus is right out front.

“Monarch Hotel, très bien situé et rien à redire!”

Nous y sommes restés 8 jours. D'abord la première chambre était bruyante, nous avons changé pour une chambre plus tranquille. Excellent! L'hôtel a un style vieillot avec des volets; nous avons adoré. Rien à dire sur le personnel. Le café à la réception le matin. Très central avec tous les bus dont un direct pour le Fisherman's wharf. Nous avons été très satisfaits. Coffre fort. Ils ont accepté de garder nos baggages parce que nous devions prendre notre avion le soir très tard. J'y retournerai sans problème! Quelques personnes un peu extravagantes dans le quartier, mais nous ne nous sommes pas sentis en danger (famille avec enfant).

“clean quaint convenient dive, helpful staff”

this place has obviously been around for a WHILE, but [although it shows,] it's for a reason. the location seems sketchy at first, but is no more so than the rest of the city, which you can get easy access to via its central location, and a very accomodating front desk staff that can help you find anything and everything you'd want to do, along with a way to get there. rooms, hallways, and elevator are small and simple with vintage appeal, but well maintained despite the age of the building. nothing too fancy, needs wifi, but it's a nice little place to hang your hat, shower, etc if you're planning to spend most of your time out and about. p.s. buddy system recommended if you plan on getting ice/visiting the vending machine.

I am a visitor from Pakistan. I went to SFO last month and stayed at the Monarch Hotel. I loved the location and the price. Its so close to all the major locations of the city. I walked to all the fun places even in hte middle of the night. I would recommend it to everyone that visit SFO. I would stay there again.

Rented it for a night to party in the city and it worked great - centrally located, affordable, and actually much nicer than I expected - great hotel.

The hotel is located just a few blocks from the Civic Center and Bart station which is great. We were there the weekend of the SF Pride festivals and were able to walk to all the celebrations without a problem. The front desk was friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable.

This is the fifth time in three years I have stayed at the Monarch and as always, I enjoyed my stay. Great location, lots of wonderful restaurants within walking distance. Easy access to downtown.
