“Fabulous”

Our first stay in San Francisco and we couldn't have picked a better hotel to stay at. Clean, friendly and staff were only too willingly to help us from suggesting eating establishments to even calling the San Francisco Ballet just to make sure the SFB was open before I travelled all the way there. The wine evenings were fun and interesting and there was always apples and coffee or tea 24/7. Great place, will be my first hotel pick when I return.

“Better than I even expected”

Everything was as described on the website or better! Very friendly staff, clean comfortable room (small but nice), breakfast buffet w/room to move around, wine hour 5:00-6, easy parking option. Recommended.

“Excellent Service and Location”

The Cartwright is in a perfect location just around the corner from Union Square, the shopping district and a wide range of restaurants and despite the hotel's age it is very clean and well-maintained by their friendly professional staff.

“Great Place to Stay!”

I went to this hotel for a business trip. I checked in during the 'wine hour' and the manager greeted me at the check-in counter with a glass of wine. Service there is amazing and it is pretty close to everything. The rooms are really small, but nice. I will definitely be back there again.

Excellent location. Great staff. Smaller room, but with all the extra's almost felt like a big bed and breakfast.

“Very Pleased”

I read the reviews before I booked this hotel; in my opinion that's the best way to find out if a hotel is good. The reviews were mixed so I was a little nervous but I figured the price and location was great so I chanced it. Many people had stated the rooms were small. This is true and having that heads up helped me keep an open mind. Other than the rooms being small which in my opinion was no big deal I really enjoyed my stay at the Cartwright Hotel. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. The complimentary breakfast was satisfying along with the wine and cookies in the evening. I also loved the classic style.

“Comfortable”

The rooms are small, but clean and comfortable. Even the beds were comfortable. The hot breakfast was a good way to start each day. The location is great. But one of the best features is the wine reception every evening in the lobby. It was a nice opportunity to meet people from different parts of the country and to exchange impressions and give suggestions about San Franciscso.

“Very charming and nice, helpful staff”

This hotel was very comfy and charming. I really liked the sitting areas on the main floor. The bed was oh so comfortable. It was perfect after a night of dancing! I wanted to duplicate the bedding at my house. The bartender in the bar area was really nice and cool. The front desk lady and the rest of the staff that helped us were so easygoing and helpful. My husband and I would stay there again. Great location - near shopping, restaurants, and dancing; we walked everywhere. The only downside was that we thought we would get a complimentary breakfast, but we were told that they had just discontinued this and that it was only available to reservations for groups. It was a nice weekend getaway for us to celebrate our anniversary and our hotel stay was one of the best parts of a fun-filled weekend!

“Can't wait to go back”

Very nice place to stay...nice staff, clean rooms, wonderful breakfast. Loved it from the moment I stepped foot in it. The rooms are a little small but beautifully decorated. I slept wonderfully. The location is great and the parking not bad either. I cant wait to go back. A truly great place.

The room as nothing luxurious but nice. The location near Union Square is great, just a short block away from all the fun shopping and dining.
