“Great Experience”
My partner and I enjoyed our stay. The staff was very helpful and pleasant. Parking was easy, location is perfect if you want to explore Union Square and/or grab a cable car to explore other parts of the City. The room we were in was comfortable, but it should be painted and some of the furniture should be replaced.
“Good value”
Reasonable price for a great location. Easy access to trolley, BART, buses; easy walk to Chinatown, Union Square. Room was small but clean and with all the basic amenities. Hallways were a little crowded as they appeared to be doing some remodeling. Staff was friendly and helpful. Service at the included breakfast was terribly slow.
“Great Downtown San Francisco stay”
An extremely pleasant little hotel - not at all the corporate anonymity approach and a real "continental" feel. Good breakfast is included as well.
“Kudos from a Local's Staycation”
I decided to book this hotel based upon the majority of the reviews here and was very happy I did. My husband and I were extremely pleased with our accommodations, which were very reasonably priced given its close proximity to Union Square. The location is ideal and within walking distance of the points of interest we had outlined for our trip. The parking was amazingly reasonable, the garage close and its staff very helpful. The breakfast was convenient (just downstairs) and more appealing than a continental pastry and coffee. We found the staff very amenable, and while they may not be effusive in their responses (again as another reviewer mentioned), I found all to be professional and helpful. The exception was the breakfast staff, who were all bright and cheery each morning. The hotel is next to the cable car line, so take that into consideration should you be a light sleeper, but we found the sound pleasing, and were not kept awake by the noises of the City, which were in no way out of the ordinary here. The blackout curtains indeed kept the room dark and easy to sleep in. Our "cozy queen" room was indeed cozy, but we appreciated its efficient use of space and did not feel cramped at all. This hotel absolutely has charm, cleanliness and location in its favor. It is not "luxurious" or modern, but it is very clean and well-maintained, and unless your plan is to spend your entire visit in your hotel, what more can you wish? We will return as many times as we can.
“Excellent hotel”
This quaint, downtown hotel is meticulously maintained. The "cozy queen" I stayed in was indeed cozy, but totally fine for me since I didn't spend a whole lot of time in the room. I didn't hear any noise from other rooms and no street noise whatsoever. The front desk staff was very helpful in answering my questions about getting around and local attractions. The included breakfast exceeded my expectations... choice of either eggs done any way or french toast/pancakes (depending on the day). I think 8:30 is a little late to start breakfast on the weekends (7:30 during the week), but I was quite satisfied with the service and amount of food provided.
“A perfect oasis”
Very clean hotel with a lot of "personality" - decorated in an early French motiff it was a wonderful oasis in the big city, including a claw-foot tub!
“the perfect stop”
This Hotel was everything that people said, the staff were very freindly and most helpful, the room was exactly what we need, the bed was very comfortable, Highly well located to everything. Breakfast was excellent and service with a smile and laugh. HIghly recommend this hotel great value for money. We could actully walk from Fishermans Wharf to the hotel about 20 minutes, but all the hop and off busses leave from union square which is 5 mins down road. or you walk to market street and pick up the f bus and that will take you to the wharf. Lovley restaurants all around, or pizza to take back to the room.
“Little France in Big San Fran”
Loved the free breakfast in the morning ( a choice of french toast or eggs). This was the cherry on top to our stay. Its definitely a hidden gem of the city. It's the perfect location...between chinatown and union square!
Connexion Wifi gratuite.
“From Napa in town for the weekend”
This was our little bit of France weekend in the City. An impressionist exhibit from the d'orsay at the de Young, a good French Bistro for dinner and this hotel. It very much felt like a European hotel with small but nicely appointed rooms and a restaurant downstairs. We walked all the hallways to check out their collection of impressioniast prints. Check in was easy and pleasant, the free breakfast was served quickly by friendly staff and the parking across the street was easy and affordable. I was concerned that being so close to the cable car line would be noisy but I did not hear anything in our room although it did not front the street. The hotel was quiet and we had a great nights sleep. Great convenience of location, two blocks down the hill to Union Square and lots of good restaurants in the area. The only negative was that as an older hotel they still have steam heaters in the rooms. Ours made noise but the staff fixed it quickly. Overall a solid affordable three star that we enjoyed and would consider again.
