“Excellent value for money”
The Carriage Inn hotel is located in a relatively gritty part of town, but the hotel itself is quite nice. My room was in the back of the hotel facing the internal courtyard and very quiet. My room was very large for a hotel in the city. The rooms all have names, and I think are individually decorated --- the style is more design-y than a typical hotel. Parking is inside a garage, but not gated. Wifi is free, but in my room the connectivity was very weak. Overall: definitely a nice hotel for the price, and very conveniently located if you are comfortable with the neighborhood.
“A Superb Gem Off The Beaten Track”
This is a really wonderful hotel and I have VERY high standards and I'm hard to please. I was in one of the executive rooms, upgraded from a standard for no extra charge. The room was full of character and extremely clean. The bed was very comfortable and the free wifi helpful for a 5 night stay. Complimentary muffins and coffee are provided daily for breakfast. The hotel is located in a rather sketchy area of the city so I wouldn't recommend it for inexperienced or young travellers, crack addicts and drunks on every corner of SOMA and Tenderloin disctrict. If you've got your wits about you then you're fine. But that said, once you're in the door, I felt very safe. There are a few good restaurants 30 seconds walk away - Union Burger for great pancakes and good quality burgers, plus AQ for fine dining and good wine, and a family run Chinese next door that sells good, cheap food. The city centre is 10-15mins walk so even though the area is dodgy, it's close to everything you need.
“great place to stay in yhe middle of sf”
The service is very friendly and the breakfast at cafe moda is great as well
“Great Hotel”
We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 nights at this hotel. We received a warm welcome on arrival, and found all the staff very courteous. We liked the delivered breakfast and the ice making machines. The shuttle bus into Union Square is a real bonus. Forget any comments you may have read about the area, we did not find it intimidating at all, but then we do live in Brixton, London, UK!
“A keeper”
Polite, elegant, helpful and gracious. Location too far out, but subway is close. Would definitely use again.
“Well priced for the location”
The location may not be optimal for some. It's a bit of a walk to the Convention Center (10 to 15 minutes) and downtown area, but not so far if planned ahead of time. The room was beautiful. Great staff that was courteous and willing to go the extra mile for a couple of weary travelers looking to check in early. One of the best hamburger joints I've been to in a long time across the street. The only negative, I wasn't completely informed of the charge for parking when I checked in. I was a little surprised to see an addition $40 charge at checkout for 2 days of parking. It wasn't too troublesome given most parking structures would have charged twice that to park for an entire day.
“Convenient & comfortable”
Good central location, friendly service, well kept up. A good traveling experience.
“Great Place”
This Hotel was wonderful.. It was in walking distance to the MUNI/BART and its been just amazing the Staff was amazing and very nice. Rooms were awesome and very neat and cool.
“AMAZING !!!!!!”
My purpose to visit San Francisco was to participate to the Marathon. First of, the location of this hotel is great. Secondly, the staff has an outstanding service. Everyone worked really hard to make me feel comfortable and it went well beyond my expectations. Working in the service industry I was actually shocked to see both, the efficiency and professionalism of the staff. I can say that i felt better than any Hyatt or 5 stars hotel. This is due to the perfectionism of the staff who are devoting themselves to make this place an experience that I will never forget !
“center of everything”
great price, great location! Came here for the weekend with my wife and were thrilled how close it was to everything. There were some homeless people around sometimes. We just ignored them but I do recommend that you do take a cab back if your wherry of them at night. but we didn't have a problem with them. It is the city so do expect to see them everywhere. We had some issues with the AC but other than that it was great. The room was really nice. Loved the comfy bed. We slept like a baby. You do here a little noise out your window sometimes at night but not too much where it was a real problem. We are defiantly staying here next time we come. The staff are very friendly.
