“Cute, clean hotel w/ great service!”

The price was great for this cute, little hotel and the service was wonderful! We arrived into town very early and arrived at the Baldwin at 9:30am and asked if we could check in early. We were immediately given keys to a lovely 9th floor room. The room was a bit small, but it was clean and pleasant. We had crammed four girls into the room and when we called to request additional towels, they were promptly delivered! I don't have a single complaint about this hotel!

“Great Hotel”

Very reasonable, quiet, and clean in the heart of downtown, close to everything you need. Pleasant helpful people at the desk. An excellent basic hotel choice. Rooms and bathrooms are a good size.I would definitely stay here again.

“Definitely going back”

Cute little hotel conveniently tucked between Union Square and Chinatown Gateway. There were lots of good restaurants to eat at close by and lots of shopping! Public transports were within 5 minute walking distance. The front desk staff were good about looking up places of interest for us. The best part of the hotel was the bath tub which was awesome after a long day of walking. We'll definitely go back!

“What a location!”

I stayed at this hotel with my husband and even though the room we stayed in didn't have a view of the street, it was clean and comfortable. The bed is a little on the hard side and frankly my husband didn't like sleeping on it. I was ok with it since we weren't there for long. The hotel location is amazing, it's just a few blocks away from the main shopping area and half a block away from Chinatown Gate. I love the staff there, very friendly and helpful. The room wasn't too small at all and the bathroom was very clean and bright. The only complaint we both have is that the pipes were acting up a bit when you take a shower. After being in the shower for about 2 mins, the pipes would have this shrieking loud pitch coming from it and it's almost hard to shower in. We tried turning off the water and turn it back on and it's just worst. We didn't hear any other rooms have this issue so maybe it's just our room. Overall I think the size of the room and the cleanliness of the room were both amazing for the price and also the hotel is located in a great area where you can walk around at night and feel safe.

“There for you in a crisis”

I was in San Francisco and found myself stranded due to the Icelandic volcano eruption. This meant I had to extend my stay unexpectedly. The Baldwin Hotel were tremendous. They went out of their way to help me. I couldn't give them a firm date for checkout so they extended me for a week and offered that if I needed to check out earlier, there would be no charge for the canceled days. They were also most helpful with helping print boarding cards and so on. If you want a budget hotel that is going to put you first when you really need it, then this is the place for you. The hotel itself is well located. Just by the china town gateway. It's easy walking distance for the financial district. I was there for a conference held at the Palace Hotel and it's just a 10 min walk away. It is in a nice area of town that is safe to walk and close to main transit stops such as the BART (which takes you from SFO airport to town). It is a budget hotel, so don't expect air conditioning or a kettle in your room. But there is as much free coffee in reception as you want. The room was clean, well sized, serviced daily, with an ironing board, hair dryer, mini-safe, good bathroom, widescreen television with cable and wifi (though you do need to pay for the wifi but it wasn't expensive). Above all though, the staff are all great and helped me with everything I needed. I'll stay there again when I'm next in San Francisco.

“Small but nice”

Rooms were a bit small, but nowhere near as small as some reviewers mentioned. Also, noise level was average... it was in the middle of a downtown area: you should expect some traffic noise. No frills: if you want a spa or a restaurant, then spend double the amount somewhere else. For the money, it was a great place. Clean, well-maintained, comfortable.

“Would return”

I didn;t know what to expect when I booked the hotel, but because there were multiple conferences going on, I had to take a chance. I'm glad I did. My stay was great. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and the staff was very nice. I would return (and plan to) in a heartbeat.

Small room, but very clean. Service was good and the hotel was close to shopping & China town. I'd definately go back!
