"Surprising airport hotel"
The hotel lobby is quite nice, with wonderful staff. The rooms are old, but for someone who stays in hotels a lot, I rather enjoyed the furnishings for their more comfortable, old-fashioned feel. Everything was very clean. For the money, I would have liked a coffee maker and a fridge in the room. That said, they were very prompt at bringing a refrigerator even given my rather late check-in time, and in the morning they offer a free breakfast, so my coffee needs were met after all! If I'd had a little more time, I would have enjoyed my coffee in the nice courtyard garden. Free hotel - airport transportation. FYI - no elevator to the 2nd floor rooms. Thank you!

"Good location, close to Chinatown"
When it comes to your satisfaction about a hotel stay, it's all relative to your expectation. Thanks for the previous reviews, I did not set the expectation too high. Since I would be traveling solo without children, and would spend most time in a conference during the day, I decided to take it up for two nights. I checked in around 4:00 pm, but the room was still not ready. I was told to leave my bags there and come back later. However, after a flight delay, I needed to refresh up before wandering around, so I told them I'd rather wait in the lobby. The room was ready before 4:30 pm. During the check in, they confirmed the room rate. Because of the tax and fee added, make sure to check the rate you got from Expedia so that the both rates are in agreement. They asked me to sign a lengthy agreement to their policies such as no guest later than 10pm, no illegal drugs in room etc. I don't have problem to sign such an agreement. However, they declined to give me a copy of the agreement which I don't understand why. They later said there was a copy of the agreement in the room, which was of course untrue. So, I took photos of the agreement using my phone. The room was small, but clean. It did not have AC for summer, but fortunately for SF, just open the window to let breeze in. It has a sink in room, but separate shared restroom and shower in hallway. It was not crowded, and I planned most my restroom needs off site, so it was not a problem for me. The room was quiet at night.

"Great value and location next to SFO"
We've been staying at the HIE for several years now since we discovered how close it is to everything we need in a hotel room when visiting family in the City. First of all, rather than to stress out my elderly mother who has to deal with water rationing penalties during drought conditions and laundering linen etc., we decided to give her a break several years ago and "just get a room." At first it was awkward, not staying with family....but honestly, I think everyone is much more relaxed. We can make it to the car rental center in minutes down the road, get our own breakfast downstairs in the lobby for a quick bite, get on the freeway two blocks away, shop at Costco next door for flowers, gifts, supplies etc. and not pay through the nose for a room in the City where you're most likely going to have your car broken into than here at the HIE. The hotel front lobby staff have been here for several years and recognizable by their pleasant, efficient and friendly welcome each and every visit. When someone enjoys their work, it shows and these ladies are the best! The rooms are clean, have a little fridge, microwave and coffee pot. Bathrooms are a bit dated and the toilets need several flushes to down the t.p., but all one needs. Flatscreen televisions, working heater/ac unit and efficient housekeeping rounds out a pleasant stay. There's even a McDonald's directly next door if you run into the midnight munchies.

"Out of town Giants fan..."
I flew in for the 3 game stretch vs the Padres and wanted a quaint hotel since I would be spending most of my time in the city and not in the room. The Mossier was just right for a single traveler, and the location was perfect! I like to walk so I was 25 minute walk to the park, and about the same to the warf, not mention numerous bars and resturants with 5-10 minutes. BART was practically across the street too. The room was small, but just right for a single traveler. It had the authentic "Victorian" feel that is found in SF. I will be staying again...

"Great hotel in a great location. "
We stayed for two nights and liked everything about this hotel. The location was great, the decor was nice, everything about the room was great. We even had a bite to eat in the restaurant and enjoyed the food. We will definitely stay here again.

"Noisy!!!!"
We arrived early and asked for a quiet room. Came back later, allocated the worst possible and noisiest room possible backing onto a room housing ice and coke machines and other noisy equipment. Asked to be moved and they said that they didn't have another room. Only agreed to move us after our many requests. Many rooms were vacant!!! Staff not pleasant!!!

When you spend extra time in SF, you can do more than the usual sightseeing activities. Make time to participate in those truly off-the-wall rituals of the city.

For starters, join Critical Mass. On the last Friday of every month, hundreds of cyclists ride through town on their way home, on their way out, or to simply join in the community spirit. While the movement is popular in other cities, it started right here in SF. Speaking of sports, if you’re a jogger, you may have a tradition of touching a certain marker before turning around. Ken Hopper, an iron-worker of the Golden Gate Bridge, noticed this behavior and created the Hopper’s Hands plaque that now hangs on the chain-link fence at Crissy Field. After a day in the outdoors, head into Castro Theatre. Built in 1922, it still has Roaring 20s charm, as well as a modern attitude. You can find all sorts of odd film festivals and sing-along events happening throughout the year.

You may also find yourself singing the praises of cheap rates on apartment hotels in San Francisco. Book right here on Expedia.ca to discover a wide range of discounts on top hotels in San Francisco, whether you’re looking for long-term accommodations or a simple inn for the night.

Come take part in San Francisco’s uniqueness during your long stay. Even if you just want to check out off-the-beaten path local eateries or avant-garde theatre shows, this city never runs out of activities for a curious traveller like you.
