“Fabulous hotel”

The Westgate is a beautiful, world-class hotel. My husband and I stayed there for five nights and thoroughly enjoyed the comfort of our spacious room and the exceptional service provided by the staff. The hotel's location is perfect for downtown activities. The hotel is right across the street from Horton Plaza and just two blocks from the start of the Gaslamp District. We also had a leisurely 15-20 minute walk to Petco Park for a Padres game. Just be aware that you'll pay a daily valet parking fee if you have a car and a daily facilities fee.

“Good place to stay for a Cubs game”

Hotel is within walking distance from Wrigley field (about 15 minutes). We were there on business and decided to catch a game that evening so we picked a hotel within walking distance. The room was nice and the staff was very friendly and professional. Rail station is about 50 yards away if you don't feel like walking or taking a cab. Hotel is located downtown, I wouldn't recommend it for a family. The area isn't bad and I felt safe but I am not sure how comfortable I would feel walking around with young children at night.

“What a wonderful ending to our west coast odyssey!”

The Westgate is a beautiful, elegant hotel with outstanding service. Everything was a delight, from the fresh roses and china at breakfast in the dining room to the turndown service at night. Check-in was a breeze. Our room was beautiful and spacious, containing both separate dressing area and bath. The marble-tiled glass-doored shower was fabulous. The wireless internet service was the best we encountered on our two-week trip all along the west coast. Retrieving the car for day trips was very easy. The tips we received from the desk staff and concierge were right on the money, especially the recommendation to eat at Buon Appetito restaurant. That turned out to be the best restaurant we experienced on our trip! They arranged a cab for us, gave us directions to several destinations in San Diego, and generally made our stay the most memorable we have ever had anywhere. The final excellent point was the proximity of the San Diego Airport. We drove to the airport and turned in our rental car in under 12 minutes!

“Cozy hotel, great location”

Hotel is a few blocks from gaslamp..an easy walk. Rooms are spacious and quiet. Decor will remind you of your grandma's guest room, but I didn't mind it. Staff was very helpful. Parking is expensive at $28 a day, but I expected it.

“Hidden gem”

I have stayed at the US Grant and several others in SD and Westgate is a hidden gem. Really classy and super nice. For the price I think it's the best around. Turndown service, two blocks from Gaslamp bars...No brainer. Stay in downtown SD, not at the beaches!

“Loved it”

We stayed here only one night so we could go to see a Padres game, it was gorgeous. Very friendly staff and the room was spotless. Very centrally located. Would definately return again.

“Elegant hotel in the middle of it all”

Great experience from the moment we arrived. All of the staff from the valet to the desk clerks were friendly and helpful. I was most impressed with the service and the food in the hotel's restaurant, Le Fontainebleau. We arrived late at the hotel and tried to get a late reservation at the restaurant. The staff originally said that it was too late but called me in my room a few minitues later after speaking with the chef and invited us down. They went out of their way to accommodate us and it was wonderful. The restaurant could have been stuffy and highbrow but instead it was comfortable and fun.
