“We were very happy with this hotel!”
I read some of the other travelers reviews before booking. The hotel was in a perfect location for us because the people we were visiting were 2 blks away. Airport and downtown are just minutes away too. We didn't need a 5 star hotel but we are always skeptical of budget hotels. This proved to be exactly what we were looking for. In fact I'm taking the time to write this because I believe the staff is working very hard to earn a good review. The pool area is almost like an oasis in the urban location of the hotel and it feels even better than it looks in the photos. We will come back here without hesitation! I recommend this hotel.
“Great Location”
If you are looking for value, this is the place. The rooms have been updated and include a coffee maker, a microwave and small refrigerator. Coffee and pastries are available in the morning and cookies in the afternoon. And it's in a great location. It's not fancy, but certainly adequate.
“"Reliable, convenient, exceptional value"”
The Vagabond Point Loma is so very convenient, but is away from the business and noise of the city. It is a great value for being in San Diego, and since the remodel a few years ago the rooms are much nicer than those of a similar price in the area. It is always clean, the staff has always been helpful. The only challenge is the parking lot is sometimes full. Right behind the hotel is the best fresh seafood in town. And it is fun to watch the fishing boats come and go.
“Great value for price”
My husband and I travel to San Diego quite often and are pretty familiar with the area. We do not spend much time in the room so we are mostly concerned with location, cleanliness, and value/price. Yes, there are times where I would pay for incredible views, hot tub, spa features and an elegant room but not all the time since we do travel a lot. On earlier trips, we drove by the Vagabond Inn while it was getting updated/refurbished and wondered how the rooms looked. We decided to book a couple of nights and see what we thought and ended up extending our stay there. What did I like? The room was clean. The bed was comfortable. Refrigerator and microwave in room. Coffee maker in room. Great location. NO parking fees (which can really add up). These fees can be hidden charges at the other hotels. Manager on site who is friendly and on top of any problems you may have Staff friendly Continental Breakfast (fruits and pastries) Free Internet What did I not like? People in nonsmoking rooms smoke outside their room which some of that smoke can get into your room when you open your door. Hole in our bedspread. If I would have been picky, I know this would have been changed out ASAP due to the manager being very accommodating. Overall, great value for price.

Room was clean, confortable. Bathroom was narrow, but very clean. We liked this hotel.
“Point Loma SD”
When I arrived, our refrigerator was broken but they sent up the repair man right away & we got a new refrigerator. Also, I couldn't figure out the window lock & the front desk man came up to help me. The beds/pillows were SUPER comfortable! The only complaint I had was they said the pool was heated & it was barely warm at all & the breakfast consisted of muffins/donuts. :(
“very nice for a 2 star”
This was the nicest 2-star hotel I have ever stayed in, and 2-star is generally my gig. (I don't like people with their palms out helping me do things that I do for myself every day) The rooms have obviously just been redone, and are very nice and very comfortable. The selfish side of me wants to give this place a bad review so there will always be a room available when I come back, but the fact is, if I find myself in San Diego again, this is where I will lay my head at night. You can't beat it for the price.
“Close to beach and San Diego Bay”
The hotel isn't anything glamorous, but it satisfied every need we had. San Diego Bay is literally steps away as well as some of the best sea food at Point Loma Seafood. Ocean beach, Mission beach, Sea World, and many other attractions are within a short drive away. The staff was helpful and had no problem allowing pets for a fee. The hotel room was comfortable except the bathroom was really small. Overall I would recommend Vagabond Inn Point Loma for the money conscious traveler looking for a hotel close to everything.
