Mediocre hotel, but excellent location

Posted 7-Apr-2014
The parking fee is pretty expensive. As we pulled up to the front, we asked the bellboys if they knew of other places to park. They discussed with each other for awhile and concluded that they didn't know of any. Really? We decided to drive on and as we got to the end of the block, what did we see? A parking lot with spots just a fourth of the hotel's price! There were no in & out privileges though, so we circled around and found a metered spot right across the street from the hotel. We put in coins for 2 hrs (meter not enforced in the evenings or Sunday). We walked to the front desk and are helped by a lady with the name that starts with a V, if I recall correctly. She had a very cold/machine-like personality. Didn't even ask how we were doing. It was awkward waiting for her to process and check us in with that amount of silence. I tried to ask her how her day was going and even asked her about her dogs because her name tag says she loves dogs. All we got were one word answers. We got to our room and it's surprisingly dated. The sink area next to the tv and the art reminded me of a doctors office. Just sterile, old, and cold. And the "city view" they talk about is a direct view of another building. It was a sad view so we had to draw the curtain sheers. This hotel is great if you're just here to sleep (good bed with all your basic needs plus excellent location) but not great if you're planning to spend more time at the hotel

Overnight stay for my birthday celebration

Posted 31-Mar-2014
Pros: The large rooms and comfortable beds.
Cons: bathroom doors
I have stayed here several times before. I loved the remodel of the hotel lobby. The front desk staff was really nice. the cleaning staff was very accommodating. The room was bigger than a room at had at the Residence Inn downtown, which was very nice. plenty of room to have food and drinks. lots of windows. I didn't like the bathroom door. it was a sliding door that didn't shut all the way. i think the track needs to be straightened. but other than that, the valet service guys was great as well. Shout out to Wes....I hope that is his name. He told me I was making his job too easy by handling my items myself.

Nice hotel walking distance from nightclubs

Posted 30-Mar-2014
My friend got a room for her 22nd b-day so I bought a room for that night as well. At check-in we told the concierge that we were a large group with two seperate reservations. He had no hesitations in giving us joining rooms! The valet was spendy but convenient, trying to find parking downtown on a weekend is frustrating and difficult. The location if the Gaslamp Westin in Horton Plaza was perfect, after drinking at the hotel all day we were able to skip the price of a cab and walk to dinner and nightclubs. The beds are also amazing, I would stay there again just to sleep in their beds all day long :)

Overcharging!

Posted 29-Mar-2014
Pros: The Staff
Cons: I did NOT receive a copy of my credit card receipt for charges I did not receive a TOTAL of the charges for my stay .
I have stayed in many wonderful hotels in America, Europe etc and the charge for parking was a sin as well as to charge for wifi each day considering the room rate...staff. Excellent! Room..adequate. Pammie Pomin Lake Tahoe,CA

Westin San Diego Gaslamp Quarter

Posted 21-Mar-2014
Excellent hotel. All of the hotel staff we spoke to were most helpful and cheerful and tried throughout our stay to make us feel at home. Hotel's position is superb for ease of access to all forms of transportation so we were able to travel comfortably to all places of interest near and far. Visit the Transit Centre on Broadway about a block away for weekly, monthly Compass cards which allow you to travel on any bus or trolley{light rail}. Really great value. We are both in our 70's and managed easily to travel where and when we wanted. Between 5 & 7 the Bar has a special deal, whatever you do make sure you try the snacks, very good value.

I had a great experience staying at the Westin. The staff were great and the hotel is in the heart of the Gas Lamp Quarter. The rooms and amenities that the hotel provides are excellent. I don't have any complaints. I highly recommend booking with Westin. I look forward to staying at The Westin Hotel in the future.
