Right in the heart of Gas LampPosted 21-Jul-2014
Pros: Quite quiet
Location: Gas Lamp, what more can you say...shopping, great food, great bars, even grocery. 10 minute walk to convention center.
Perfect location for Gas Lamp fun. Was here for a week for a conference, and it fit the bill. Everything was as expected. Friendly staff too.

Hotel near Jimbos!Posted 20-Jul-2014
Pros: Spacious rooms, close to Jimbos, comfortable beds.
Cons: Travel advice, consistency in house keeping and maybe offer some actual perks for staying at the hotel.
Location: It is a good 15 minute brisk walk to the convention centre. I would recommend staying on 5th avenue when it gets dark.
The highlight of this hotel was that it was near Jimbo's supermarket (amazing organic supermarket with great pre-made food). Aside from that there were not that many frills for the amount per night. I was in town for a conference and had a king bed room. Unfortunately the first night the toilet was gurgling all night. I had called for a service technician to come look at it.. he said it was because of the pressurized pump had air trapped and he had let some of the air out. It was already late ~11pm (I had arrived that evening) and was hoping it would make the gurgling of the toilet go away but in the middle of the night it kept me all night even when I closed the toilet top and closed the bathroom door. When I called at 6am in the morning to complain I had asked to switch rooms after I told them I already had a technician take a look. I got upgraded to a executive King room which was even more spacious. The room initially provided 2 free bottles of water and starbucks coffee . But when I got housekeeping they would cheap out on one of the those bottles... (the small things count when you're paying >200$/night). They also offered a green program -- if you don't get housekeeping you either get starwood points or a $5 food voucher.. 1 out of the 2 nights I did not receive the 5$ and had to ask for it. There was also no one to give you advice on what to see in the area - I wasn't even given a map for reference. Was not a memorable stay.

Central hotel, good value.Posted 8-Jul-2014
Overall a good experience. Lobby was nice, staff was friendly and helpful. The room was a bit dated, but clean. Only issue was the super hot water in the bathroom sink and shower, but we adapted.

Exactly what we were looking for...Posted 6-Jul-2014
We were looking for a nice modern hotel near the Gaslamp area and within walking distance of the ferry, seaport village, and Gaslamp district. The hotel fit the bill perfectly and was a fair price for what we wanted. Other attractions nearby were Petco Park, for Padres games and the zoo was a 15.00 cab ride. Had a great 4 days with the Westin as the home base.

Short stay in San DiegoPosted 29-Jun-2014
Pros: Friendly, helpful staff, clean comfortable room.
Cons: Nothing comes to mind
Location: Excellent location for Gas lamp district and a short walk to the Embarcadero and its maritime museums. Zoo a must see and Old Town worth the tram ride
My wife and I spent 4 nights in San Diego and the hotel was just a block from the Gas lamp district with many restaurants and bars just a short walk away. Lots of interesting things to do and see in the city and we saw a lot of it within a 15 minute walk or a short tram or bus ride. San Diego Zoo 10 minutes away by bus is I guess a must see - it might be worth doing a little research, however, on when are the best times to actually see some of the animals some of whom failed to make an appearance when we went. Old Town is another must see for a taste of past times along with some good restaurants a shopping.
