I expected much more from a Westin Hotel.

Posted 23-Feb-2015
Pros: The location was very nice - close to shopping and restaurants and entertainment and the waterfront.
Cons: Provide complimentary wifi in the guest rooms.
Location: There is a great little restaurant across the street that has very reasonable prices for a healthy breakfast, or sandwich or salad.
Overall things were fine, but not up to what I was expecting from the Westin name. The rooms were fairly small - just a pathway around the bed to the door - and very limited closet and drawer space. Expected more for the price of the room. It just seemed that every day, something was missed ...coffee cups or the coffee or face cloths or water, etc. Little things that you don't notice right away until you need them. Wanted to use the hot tub, but not sure when it was last cleaned. That was disappointing.

In the heart of Gaslamp District

Posted 19-Feb-2015
Close to everything. Right next to Horton Plaza which makes it convenient for quick bites or some shopping. No need for a car if you are staying here. We used Uber, Lyft, and Flywheel all week which ended up being much cheaper than a car.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Amanda at the front desk was especially professional and accommodating. We were able to check in early and allowed an extended time in the room while we waited for our pick up. Our luggage was then taken care of for several hours by the attendants in the lobby. Overal a very positive and relaxing experience at the Westin San Diego Gas Lamp Quarter.

Nice hotel close to the glass lamp district

Posted 17-Feb-2015
Cons: Room service and the TV reception.
I stayed at this hotel while on business. The room is very nice, have all the required amenities for business individuals. Room service could be improved, I requested breakfast to be served at 7AM, it was delivered at 7:45. The food was nicely presented and well prepared once it was delivered.

Convenient to Gaslamp district but average

Posted 12-Feb-2015
Convenient to Gaslamp district, the room is average, nothing special….had a old musty smell when we got there but cleared out after we opened window and later turned on air, other friends that stayed there said the same. We were warned about the $42 parking, so we parked in the lot just before the entrance for $22 for overnight , and $10 for during the day but if you just need to go in and out there is free 3 hr parking at Horton Plaza, but kind of a maze there, FYI, the hotel is near the Macy side if you get confused in the parking structure. Bar was nice. Friendly staff.

Central location but not what I expected.

Posted 5-Feb-2015
Pros: Location is close to Gaslamp Quarter and shopping. Refrigerater in room is nice.
Cons: Bathrooms need to be updated along with towels and tolitries. Better key cards that last longer than a couple of days.
Location: Outdoor mall and movie theatre next door. Zoo, park and airport are a short taxi ride away. Restaurants and night life within walking distance.
Upon check in we were given a room with two double beds. I explained we had booked a room with a king bed but was told we had booked a king accessible room which none were available. However, we were able to change rooms the following day when a king became available. We were grateful for this as my husband and I slept in separate beds as the double beds are not queen size beds. The beds are very comfortable. Although everything appeared to be clean, the shower curtain in the first room had what appeared to be black mold and there was rust on the tile from the grab bar. Also, many of the tiles had been patched. The bathroom in the second room was clean but the faucet in the bath tub leaked a pretty heavy stream. The tub is discolor end from this leak. The water pressure in the sink was not adequate. The towels were clean but thin and one had holes in it. I did enjoy the complimentary robe but tolitries were lacking. No cotton swabs or shower cap. While housekeeping was prompt everyday, I do not believe bedding was changed as I noticed same stain on pillow case. We also had issues with our key cards not working and Kept having to get new cards. Other than these issues, the room was nice but not a 4 star hotel.

A great choice in downtown San Diego!

Posted 9-Jan-2015
Pros: The staff, the room
Cons: make sure the room is really clean including the bathroom. let guests know about other parking options or lower your valet fee.
Location: within steps to Horton Plaza, Gaslamp, Petco park, the trolly.
First of all, do not valet park! I believe they charge $40 per night and there is no choice for self park. If you do a 5 min search on your phone you can find garages downtown for half what they charge. The staff and the room facilities are wonderful! No complaints. My bathroom wasn't the cleanest but after a few flushes it was cleaner then when I arrived. The shower was wonderful, the bed was great and we had a sliding glass door that opened to a shard large open terrace. The hotel was pretty empty so it was a nice start to the morning w my cup of coffee. I had a early morning appointment so no time for breakfast. I ordered room service. A small pot of coffee, creamer, 2 eggs over easy, a hash brown, bacon and toast: $30! The food was good but cold. Disappointing! Overall I would stay again. They offered me a late check out since it was a quiet week which was very nice. Another plus too is I didn't hear hallway doors slamming all night and morning. I'm not sure if thats due to the level of business in the hotel or if they are smart enough to have doors with a slower, quieter hinge. I'm not sure why every hotel doesn't have doors that close silently. Its one of my biggest pet peeves. I also didn't hear people walking above me. That's something else that drive me crazy. One more thing, if you need breakfast in the morning, walk about 50 feet from the hotel and Panera bread is right across the street and they open @5am. There are also a few diners that open early or are 24/7.
