Centrally located in downtown San Diego, the US Grant-A Luxury Collection Hotel is adjacent to the Westfield Horton Plaza entertainment complex and Gaslamp Quarter.
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the US Grant-A Luxury Collection Hotel was built in 1910 by Ulysses S. Grant Jr. in honor of his father.
Wireless Internet access (surcharge) is available throughout the public areas of the hotel. Meeting space totaling 33,000 square feet includes ballrooms, exhibit space, and a 24-hour business center. Professional conference coordinators, wedding planners, and an audiovisual department provide expert service.

Richly appointed guestrooms have pillowtop mattresses with plush down comforters, white-on-white bedding, and 300 thread count linens, framed by a custom, drip painting headboard. Original Native American art, custom-crafted furnishings, and crown molding are other distinctive features. The 270 guestrooms include plasma televisions with ESPN and HBO, cordless phones, in-room safes, executive desks, and standing mirrors. Microwave is available upon request. Marble-lined bathrooms have glass enclosed showers, stone basin sinks, and imported bath amenities.
Guests have the option of high-speed, wireless, or dial-up Internet access (surcharges). Twice daily housekeeping service is provided.
All rooms are smoke-free.

“Stay for the history..be blown away by the service”
Blown away by the service, the quality of my room, the quality of my room service meal. But, most of all, whoever is doing their service training is doing a great job. Every interaction with every person--from valet parking, to front desk, to room service..was flawless.

Loved the US Grant. I will be back again. The Staff was wonderful and the rooms had a classic feel yet, they were modern. The hotel was clean and Valet staff were terrific.
“Wonderful stay on a business and pleasure weekend”
From the moment we arrived we were greeted by the friendly, courteous and extremly professional staff of the US Grant. We attended a fund raising event and were in two of the ball rooms. It was a large group, and a team of extremely efficient wait staff insured that everyone's food was piping hot. We were a little concerned when we read because of the historice requirements that the hotel rooms at the lower levels were noisy. We did not find that to be the case. The beds and linens were fabulous and the rooms were emaculate. The location was walking distance to the harbor, Horton Plaza, and the gaslamp.

“My new "go to" hotel!”
Fantastic hotel. I loved everything about it. I will recommend it to everyone and will stay at the US Grant every time I'm in San Diego. The room and bathroom were lovely, the staff--from the valet to the front desk to the concierge--all fantastically helpful and friendly.
“Beautiful Hotel, Great Service, Well Worth It”
This hotel is definitely worth staying at. I got a really good deal online so I wasn't expecting much, but when we got there I was pleasantly surprised. It really is just as beautiful as the pictures on the website. The art gallery is amazing, and the lady working there was very kind and knowledgeable. All the staff went out of there way to be attentive and courteous throughout our stay. Yes, the room was small but it was clean and pretty, and the view was just terrific. The only negative were the carpets near the elevators, they were badly stained and looked dingy and dirty. The hallway to our room smelled a little bit musty, but considering it IS a very old hotel I let that and the carpets slide and not ruin our stay here. We will definitely be going back.

My husband along with my 16 month old checked into this hotel for a 3 night visit. Can I just say from the moment we pulled up to the valet, to the check in staff and the maid service, everyone was wonderful, helpful and friendly! I have stayed in many five star hotels but this one takes the cake! San diego was nice but this hotel definitely made our visit very enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this hotel. Also there is a mall right across the street! Parking at the hotel was very steep. But then again, the great guys at the valet cushioned the blow and we didn't feel so bad paying that much for parking since the service was great! If you want give star service, stay here!
