“Simply Outstanding”
This was one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at on a business trip. The room was a little small but excellently appointed, the bathroom did not have a tub, but that was the only deficiency I noticed. If I ever have to return to San Diego I will defintely stay here.
“location and comfort”
the hotel was in the best location for everything we could have wanted. great resturants, travel and entertainment. this hotel had a plesant surprise, a walking tour on the weekend. the staff was 5 star *****!
“Great value”
I visited San Diego for a conference, and the rooms at the conference hotel were pricey. The Sofia's rooms were half the cost, and the rooms were lovely and comfortable. The hotel was conveniently located, as well. I was quite happy with my stay.
“Sofia Hotel is a Gem”
This hotel is an adorable, clean little historic boutique hotel just blocks from the Gaslamp district and all the restaurants, shops, etc. Rooms are cozy, clean and stylishly decked out. It's right on a major bus line - we got around without a car - and walking distance to the water for whale watching or the Midway. It's on the edge of a "turning" area (right next to a Greyhound station) but you would really never know it - even the restaurant is lovely and chic. The staff is VERY helpful - can't say enough good things about this stay!We found this hotel on Exedida through a package and were a little apprehensive, but very impressed!
“Great Location!”
First time to San Diego, and we were very impressed with the Sofia hotel. In a great location, walking distance to all the restuarants & bars on 5th avenue, the bay & little italy..easy access to pretty much everywhere you need to go! would reccomend to upgrade to the King room, the double was fairly small for 2 people (couldn't open the safe because the bed was too close to it)..but otherwise, great room & hotel.
“Very nice!”
The Sofia Hotel was wonderful. Gave us our room at noon even though their check-in isn't till 4pm. Upgraded us to a city view because it was our anniversary. I would absolutely stay there again. Of course I got a fantastic deal with my flight and hotel package. Even the concierge was surprised at how low my rate was. I really liked the location (we didn't rent a car) and were able to walk and take public transportation everywhere. I was just a little surprised by the amount of bums in that part of the city. I've lived in St. Louis and Chicago and was still a little surprised. It would not deter me from staying at the Sofia again but I think its something people should know in case that is an issue for them. Other than that everyone in San Diego was extremely nice (another surprise for me). Many strangers went out of their way to make sure we were headed in the right direction or make sure we didn't miss a particular tourist spot.
“Excellent European style hotel in San Diego”
Great location, walking distance to everything, beautiful decor in a recently refurbished 1929's building, excellent staff, superb restaurant/bar on premises, all at bargain prices!!
“Great Location”
In the heart of Downtown San Diego - on Broadway. The hotel is close to Horton Plaza Mall and many great restaurants. The hotel was a great value for the price.
“Real hospitality pros”
A lovely and very comfortable small hotel, convenient to all attractions and business centers. Was particularly impressed by the front desk staff, who were uniformly friendly, helpful and accommodating.
“Stay at the Sofia!”
This is the second time I've stayed at the Sofia for a convention and I love it! I love to walk and it's convenient to get to the convention center, the gas light area, shopping and the grocery store. Although the rooms are a bit snug - they have everything I need. I love the fridge and microwave so that I don't have to eat out every meal. The staff is consistently friendly and helpful and the restaurant is great!
