“Super nice staff and beautiful view - steps to the beach!”
Everyone is really nice here! This is the first time we have stayed in Carlsbad and we will be coming back! Very convient to beach and restaurants. The staff was awesome!
“Great value, friendly service”
Heck of a deal, just across the street from a great beach. Personable, extra friendly folks at the desk. You can tell they appreciate your business and they try hard to earn a return visit. It's not the Four Seasons, but it's a great value in a upscale part of town. Walk to agreat coffee shop, one block north, a brew pub and pizza parlor, 3 blocks, Mexican on the beach, all a few minutes away without getting in a car. On a budget but want to feel safe and be comfy? Stay at the Surf!
“Very impressed”
Great place to stay. It is an old building but with nice big rooms. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay there again. Close to the beach.
“Another vacation success at the Surf Motel Carlsbad”
I knew our stay at the Surf Motel in Carlsbad, Ca would be a good one because I am a return customer; I was right. We spent five nights and it couldn't have been a more peaceful and relaxing stay; the rooms were still as nice and clean as I expected and the staff was awesome. If you're an ocean lover, well it's about a three minute walk from the Surf Motel to one of the nicest beaches in SoCal. The Surf Motel also offered a better than average continental breakfast each morning and provided beach supplies for the guests (beach towels, boogie boards, sand toys, umbrella). For the price, location, and hospitality you can't beat the Surf Motel.
“Would stay again”
This hotel is wonderful. The staff was friendly and always there to help. The location was excellent, right on hwy 101, with the beach right across the street, and the shops and restaurants all within walking distance. Rooms were nice with a small fridge, microwave and coffeemaker. We would certainly stay at the Surf Motel again.

We have been coming to the Surf motel for several years. The staff is always friendly and helpful. It is great that it is walking distance to the village and the beach.
“Location, Location, Location”
This was a no frills hotel. Clean room. Pleasant staff. Right across the street from the beach. This is a great place to stay for a short stay. No kitchen but did have Microwave and small Fridge. Walk out the door and cross the street to the beach. Right on historic Coastal Hwy 101. Restaurants and shopping with in walking distance.
“Not fancy, but ideal for a quiet getaway”
Already recommended location to family and friends looking for a quiet, inexpensive getaway that has perfect beach access.
“Great place to stay”
The hotel is really close from the beach, just across the street. If it is too cold in the water you can use their pool. Quite big rooms, but the air conditioner is quite noisy. If you like a hearty breakfast don't count on the one included!
“Excellent motel”
Would recomend this motel to everyone. The location is fantastic, management are very helful and friendly, it is a great place to stay. Could do with some decor modernisation, but for an older building this is to be expected. We loved our stay so close to the beach and village. Value for money it is A1 The pool is small, but we had it all to ourselves everytime we used it! The owners are so very welcoming, cant wait to go again.
