“Beautiful place to stay, excellent staff!”
Our only point of dissatisfaction was the size of the balcony...in the online photos the balconies appeared to be large enough to seat several people and allow them to stretch out with a nice view. In reality, the balconies are angled so that the space is triagular, not rectangular, fitting two chairs and a tiny table somewhat awkwardly. The large tubular metal rail is right at face level when sitting, so your view is quite obstructed. Seemed a weird design to me, and a bit of a disappointment since we upgraded to get a balcony to be able to sit outside evenings while our infant slept in the room. The bed was comfy with high-quality linens, the housekeeping staff left us a gleaming room to come "home" to every evening, and the few extra requests we had (microwave, playpen, extra coffee packages) were fulfilled cheerfully and immediately. The concierge was fantastic :) Note: We didn't think to look in the cabinet under the tv until our 3rd day, but THAT'S where the fridge is! (I assumed when I didn't see one, that I was remembering the room description incorrectly and that there wasn't a fridge at all)!
“Perfect Destination Hotel!”
We debated between 2 different hotels and were extremely pleased we chose the Marriott. The facility was beautiful, staff was exceptionally pleasant and it's location was perfect. The Old Town Trolley stop was at the base of the drive way, the city transit trolley service had a stop across the street, and we were within walking distance of the Gas Lamp Quarter as well as Sea Port Village. If you're traveling to San Diego and don't want to rent a car, this is a perfect destination hotel! And the view of the bay was incredible!
“terrific stay at marriott”
beautiful property; excellent service; elevators are slow - only complaint. beautiful view
“Nice hotel and location”
Good hotel, good service. Pick a room with a balcony (north tower). Really nice views and relaxing. Rooms are a little bit small, but the balconies make up for it. Roy's is excellent. Room service is overpriced. Even Starbucks and Hertz on site charge more than their normal locations. Expedia package deals for this hotel are sometimes a great buy. I got this hotel cheaper than the group rate for my conference. San Diego is an awesome city.
“Great hotel in San Diego”
We were attending a conference next door, and so the location was perfect. The room was great with a nice view of the city. The location was great....a walk to most places. A Starbucks in the lobby and a nice workout facility....I would definitely stay here again.
“Recommended”
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The Gaslamp Quarter is a short walk up the street and the pool at the hotel is outstanding. Staff was polite and helpful. Room was spacious and very comfortable. TV channels are limited but when you are in San Diego you should not be inside watching TV!
“Great Family Stay”
We enjoyed are stay at the Marriott. It was close to everything and the staff was helpful. It is a busy hotel but we loved being in the middle of everything.
“Nice hotel”
A very nice stay and would recommend it to friends
“Very Impressed”
We loved the hotel. Everyone was very helpful and friendly and ready to assist. The facilities were very clean, well kept, and in good repair. The pool area was relaxing and the kids loved swimming and playing in the pool. It was conveniently located within walking distance to shopping and restaurants. I would highly recommend this hotel to friends and family.
“There are nicer hotels in SD but for the price the Marriott is OUTSTANDING.”
We stayed in the Marriott for 4 nights in Oct of 2011. I have stayed in nicer hotels in downtown San Diego but at almost twice the price. For the money, the Marriott can't be beat. The only negatives I can think of would be average food quality for room service, self parking is $26 per day and no free wifi in the rooms.
