“Excellent Location for UCSD....an expensive ride downtown”

We stayed five nights at this location. The staff were extremely helpful in getting information and giving directions . The only downside to the stay was a water pipe break. We were offered another suite to use and even move to but the staff assured us that the problem would be fixed by 4:00pm. We were out for the day so we stayed put and the problem was fixed when we returned . Staff even offered to pack us up and move. Huge thanks to Tanya ,Ali and Cathy. The shuttle is an excellent way to get to areas around the hotel within (5 Miles) free on the hour . Pick up a mere call away. Great place to stay if your business is at UCSD ,an expensive cab fare or a long bus ride to anywhere in downtown San Diego. Otherwise we had avery good experience

“Mariott Residence Inn La Jolla, CA”

This hotel is fabulous. In addition to the stated amenities that I saw on Expedia, they had communal gas grills for use, and free breakfast every morning, and a light dinner, beer and wine Mon - Wed.

“Wonderful time”

The location and room was perfect for us because we were mainly going to Mirmar Marine base. The room was clean, breakfast was great and really enjoyed the free cookout and drinks on our first night there. My wife was even able to cook my son a meal when he came back from a 7 month deployement in the middle east.

“Great Family Place!”

Love that it had a kitchen (upgraded applicances). Breakfast was great! Location was awesome in La Jolla! Will definetely go back!!

“feel like you're at home!”

We stayed in one of the loft units, that way my buddy and I could have separate bed-rooms. Great place. A comfortable living room area -- excellent bedrooms and bathrooms. Breakfast each morning at the Clubhouse area. I highly recommend it for a visit to the La Jolla area.

Getting around

In visiting La Jolla, we drove from the Residence Inn to La Jolla village, then found a place to park the car each day. La Jolla is a great place to stroll around. Parking can be expensive, though; so we parked along the street for the 2-hour time, then would drive the car to a place for lunch, or to a different part of La Jolla (like maybe the beach area for a couple of hours.) Residence Inn is about 4 miles from La Jolla Village, so probably not the best place to stay unless you have a car.

“Clean and Comfortable for last minute family vacation”

I kept coming across the Residence Inn when seeking a reasonable hotel in the San Diego area with full kitchen capabilities. I was impressed with the cleanliness of the Penthouse suite we reserved. The duplex suite had three flat screen tvs perfect for mom and two large sons. Proximity to USD restaurants, grocery stores and activities right off the 5. No place in San Diego was more than 15 minutes away. I would most definitely book it again and bring more family members.

Area recommendations

La Jolla, Gas Lamp, Sea World, Mission Beach, Prospect Street and the Cove.

“Convenient to UCSD, would return again”

Residence Inn is spacious and has plenty of amenities, including a full hot breakfast of good quality and selection. It is a good choice for families.

Nearby La Jolla Village has many options, on the pricey side. Within a mile are many casual dining places, chains like BJ's, Islands, El Torito, and numerous take-out or more casual eating.

“Close to everything in San Diego”

Great hot breakfast in the morning and some happy hour food and drinks during the week. Super close to everything we wanted to do in San Diego and took less than 20 minutes to get anywhere even Legoland. Easy on and off the highway I-5. Quiet and close to shopping and restaurants. We stayed in the Penthouse which had plenty of room for our family of 5. Rooms were clean and very comfortable.
