“quite satisfied”

stayed at OBH for a November wedding. We were able to check in a bit early and stay a bit late which really helped us a lot since we were being dropped off by a friend who had to get back to work on Friday. The front desk staff were super nice and friendly. The neighborhood is casual and cool. It was a bit noisy from the street and the guests at the hotel but it didn't bother us much.

“Never again!”

We will never stay here again. Hotel was just remodeled - but still has old bathroom fixtures and tile. Dirty and rusty. Very nasty! NOISY location. Great to be across from the ocean - but the street noise never stopped - and windows didn't help to block noise of people talking and skateboarding in the middle of the night. People were very nice - but did not make a difference in comfort level. Don't waste your money!

“fine beach hotel”

not much to complain about. I guess the price results from its oceanview, not from its standard. all else was fine.

not sure i would recommend ocean beach at all. mission and pacific are said to be nicer. it,s a bit on the dodgy side but surfing and the beach are great.

“Charming”

Not a 5 star by any means. Also not a slum. Very clean but a little small and old. Quaint and charming like girl with a good sense of humor. BEST location ever. Right on the water the extra for an oceanfront was well worth it.

“Will go back again”

I loved the location, we switched up from a partial view to a full view of the ocean and loved it. We will defiently stay there again, everything was in walking distance which was very convenient.

“Loved the Ocean View!”

I loved the location of the hotel! The stay was great. Bed was comfy & it only had a shower, but it didnt matter because we were hardly in the room. Shopping was great & so was the food.

“Diamond in the Rough”

Although all of the rooms smell like moth balls and not all of them have the 32" flatscreen HDTV as advertised, you can not beat it's location. We loved our stay here because waking up and walking across the street to get to the beach was awesome. We loved watching the sun set as we walked across the pier and the adventurous walk we took during high tide down the stone coast. The little shops nearby were cool to browse in as well. We had a nice time in OB before my surgery.

Area recommendations

Ocean Beach was nice but definately visit Old Town and Downtown San Diego. Downtown has a nice harbor and on the corner of it is Seaside Village. Cute little tourist attraction with a lot of commodity stores. Oh and Anthony's Fish Grotto is a must. It's a little pricey but the food is DELICIOUS!!! Enjoy San Diego. They have great shopping and wonderful attractions. To me SD Zoo is the best zoo. Seaworld is fun too.

“Best Beach Hotel in California!”

Ocean Beach Hotel is not a 5 star hotel but hey, it has been bombarded by sea salt forever! But... it is a lovely, very welcoming hotel, smack in the heart of Ocean Beach and only steps from the water. The bottom floor accepts dogs and it seems the 2nd story, for youngsters and the 3rd floor for us old foogies! Beautiful courtyard with fountain and wi-fi. I would recommend this hotel to any water lover! And, not to mention the Ocean Beach Pier for fishing or just strolling. A real 1960's attitude in the whole town! All within walking distance of the hotel.
