“Can't wait to go back!”
I would go back to La Valencia in a minute! I just went down for the weekend to get away for one night. And, as planned, came back renewed and refreshed. The service staff were extremely hospitable and treated me like royalty. The rooms are a little small, but the amenities and service made up for it and made it worth every penny.
“Grand Dame”
Doesn't disappoint.
“Beautiful Spanish Hotel”
Great location. This hotel is smack-dab in the middle of town. Beautiful views. In a village view room, you'll hear the traffic from 6am til about midnight, but its not that bad. Excellent banana pancakes with coconut syrup!!
“Would recommend for anybody”
La Valencia is a great place to stay, in a great location, right next to La Jolla coves for snorkeling and watching the seal marine life. The hotel was very clean with a very helpful staff that were not rude by any means as I have heard before. There is plenty of shopping and restaurants within walking distance and a short drive to Sea World and San Diego Zoo. The only thing that could have been improved was the size of the bathroom which was pretty small. This was my second visit to La Valencia and would not hesitate to stay here again.
“La Valencia as beautiful as I remembered”
The room was incredible! Large ocean front windows that you could open wide! We had a lovely long weekend for our anniversary. Wonderful food, kayaking, biking and shopping. A great romantic weekend.
“beautiful view”
very happy with this hotel
“Charming historic hotel in a great location”
My friend and I spent a relaxing 4-day weekend here and it was a beautiful and relaxing setting. The hotel itself is historic and very nicely maintained, with an old world European feeling with Spanish tiles, and a tiny elevator with an operator. FYI it didn't seem very wheelchair friendly due to steps to the pool and tiny elevator, but maybe better in the newer section of building - I recommend asking before booking if that's important to you. The hotel is situated right in the middle of the shopping and restaurant district so other than getting from the airport, a car is not absolutely needed - but nice to have if you want to go out sightseeing, and might even out with the cost of a taxi or shuttle. The beach is also right next door, but for our early Spring trip seemed like more of a walking-path beach than a laying in the sun beach. Two areas are within easy walking distance where seals can be viewed up close basking on the beach. The pool is perfect for laying in the sun with comfy towel covered lounge chairs and restrooms with showers close at hand. Our only disappointment was the desk messed up our massage schedule and wasn't so great about confirming exact times, but they were very cordial about resolving the issue. A very romantic and relaxing setting overall. I would definitely return with my husband and child, though it seemed more a sophisticated grown up location than a small kid location.
“a ;classic charmer”
old world excellence meets modern amenities- great location, ambiance and service great find
“Wonderful experience!”
There is nothing that theyh could have done at the Hotel La Valencia to make out stay better. Everything was great from the accomodations themselves to the staff. We have traveled a lot and have never experienced such a pleasant, competent staff. We look forward to returning.
“Elegant, comfortable, gorgeous--what's not to like?”
This lovely smallish hotel, right on the coast in La Jolla, could not have been nicer! From the beautiful and lavish floral displays in the hotel lobby and its lovely garden, to the immaculately clean interior, it was a delight to see and to stay in. The food at the hotel's restaurant was delicious and well-prepared, the service pleasant and efficient. The place was quiet and while an old, historic building, had all the comforts one might ask for. Our television/cable system was extra-complicated, though, and I would have liked an easier access just to see the news- the remote was as complex as the dashboard of the Space Shuttle, but the maintenance man came immediately and straightened us out. Relaxing, and more than fulfilled the expectations for a really nice "girls" get-away for my best friend and myself in a beautiful seaside location. The valet parking, while v. expensive @ $25/day, was efficient, and made life easy.
