“La Jolla Lover!!”
I would recommend La Jolla to any traveller young and old!! It is a beautiful, quiet, beach front location. We had exceptional service anywhere we went. Everyone is very friendly and we felt safe at all locations we went to. The area comes to life early in the morning with many surfers and divers in the water by sunrise, but not much for night life unless you go into the Village or to Pacific Beach area. The La Jolla Shores Hotel is oceanside with gorgeous views, I recommend the Coastal or Ocean View rooms. Our room was very clean and the staff upgraded us to a nicer view room at no charge. The hotel restaurant was a little pricey, but not more than what we expected. The food was delicious. Just down the street are a few shops and restaurants. I would suggest Papalulu's for coffee and breakfast. Piatti's for a great Italian meal is a must on your "to try" list! Be sure to go into the Village, tour the Cove and Caves. For a decent priced lunch and coffee on their outdoor patio, try out the Living Room. Another spot to hit for lunch is Gerard's on Girard St. A great one day excursion is to head to the Harbour. Take a walking tour of the boats, naval ships and cruise ships that port in the area. Walk through the Sea Port Village for another nice area of shops and cafes. Take the ferry to Coronado Island, it is only about a ten minute trip across the bay. It was a bit too far of a walk from the ferry landing to Coronado Beach, but there are taxis and an easy to use bus.
“Lajolla is Special”
Great location and excellent service. So much happening on the beach and at the park. Great for surfing, running and sea kayaking. Close to great restaurants.
“Best relaxing beachfront hotel for families!!!”
What a wonderful hotel! Underground parking, check-in was a breeze - "THE" most amazing location you could ask for. Our girls 5 & 7 loved the pool and hot tub, and loved even more the large playground and park literally right beside the hotel. Not to mention that you walk out of the restaurant onto the beachfront. Staff was all very friendly, room was large (3rd floor has vaulted ceilings) and our "coastal" view gave us the beach, the playground and the park which was nicely filled with locals having picnics, preparing for scuba diving and surfers. Quaint little shops nearby to grab pizza, groceries, or go for a nicer italian dinner. Room was clean, spacious and housekeeping kept everything clean, new & tidy. ***This hotel was on the other side of the bluff from "La Jolla Village" where the high rollers are - thus better for families with kids. We would highly recommend this to ALL of our friends and family.
“Best location in the San Diego area”
We stayed for 12 days in this hotel to which we have been coming, off and on, since the 1980's. It is located right on the La Jolla Shores beach and is a two-minute walk to many restaurants. For those of you who crave activity, sea-kayaking, snorkeling and surfing are three of the activities practised in front of the hotel. Or you can walk along the beach and view the pelicans, sandpipers and curlews who frequent the shore. The hotel has a good restaurant and bar with an excellent view of the ocean. The rooms are comfortable and the service is excellent. La Jolla is at the north end of San Diego but the airport and all the main attractions for tourists are only about a 15-20 minute drive away. We will return again next year!
“Nice feel, superb location”
The La Jolla Shores was a pleasant surprise: a great feel in this hotel, lush tropical vegetation, heated indoor pool, jacuzzi, beach access (with beach chaires and umbrellas available). The room was large, with refrigerator, flat screen tv, balcony. I would say that about 20% of the rooms are ocean front - we chose a garden view, which gives off on the inner patio area. I would definitely return to this Hotel if I'm in the area.
“La Jolla Shores Hotel: Great for a family get-away”
Friendly and very helpful staff. Staff gave us tips for shopping and sights to see. Hotel was clean and inviting, with nice rooms and lots of open areas - good for a family vacation. Great location! Rooms have a fridge, but no microwave oven, that would have been a nice addition.
“Great hotel on the beach”
Stayed here for 7 days. Very nice hotel, beautiful beach and a very good restaurant. Only downside is the extra charge for parking, but we only used it for 1 night and then parked on the street for the rest of our stay.
“Great location and staff”
We had 2 rooms for 2 nights each and had a great visit of the area. Great front desk people
“Location,location,location”
We have been coming to this hotel for years and always enjoy the location on the beach, the facilities and the staff. Also the proximity to good restaurants-within easy walking distance. We were disappointed this year by the very restricted menu for "restaurant week". We did enjoy a couple of meals on the patio, using the bar menu.
“great beach”
right on beach, good spot, rooms need updating, hotel has so much potential because court yard/beach location is great. We did enjoy stay
