“Expected better”
Extra small room in need of updating - could've stayed at a chain motel in the same area for better quality at lots less money. A/C didn't work and room was stuffy. Paper-thin walls let us hear everything our neighbors were doing. Staff was courteous but management needs to spend some cash on decor - too nice a location (heart of La Jolla Village overlooking ocean) for such low quality accommodations. PHOTOS OF ROOMS ON THIS SITE ARE NOTHING LIKE THE ACTUAL ROOM!!
“OK hotel”
La Jolla Inn is conveniently located compact hotel. You can park your car near by street or use their facility a few blocks away at a reasonable rate. You can enjoy morning walk to the near by beach/ shore. I would recommend this hotel for a short trip. You can order your breakfast like juice and bagel delivered to your room and eat them on your bed.
“not impressed with this hotel”
So the location is perfect, right in the heart of downtown la jolla and in the midst of shops, restaurants and near the ocean...but, I still wouldn't recommend it, so you know it must be bad! The noise level at this hotel is extremely high, even for someone like us without the kids and not picky at all. The bed is really uncomfortable. The hotel is worn and the thermostat in my room was broke. The roof top deck is great but the food to eat on it is aweful. The so called continental breakfast is really just a bagel or cold cereal, and the toaster is in another place (they call it the library, where ever that was). The parking is 2 blocks away and a charge for overnight. I would stay a little farther out but still within walking distance if I went again. We ate at Cody's across the way from the hotel and it was quaint and delicious.
“Can't Beat the Location”
You absolutely cannot beat the location of this hotel! It's right in the center of La Jolla Village - you can walk everywhere - to the beach, bike path, restaurants, shopping, ect. It is definitely not the fanciest place in town, and has a very European feel to it. (No amenities, small rooms, queen sized beds)We hardly spent anytime in the room, so this served us just fine! One thing I will recommend is paying extra for an upgraded room. There is a huge difference in the ocean facing rooms. The views are amazing and you have a nice balcony. The staff was very helpful in accomodating us. Parking is off site, but totally worth it. It's a short walk and saves the hassle of driving around looking for a spot and it's cheap!
“Could be better”
This hotel has a great location, no doubt, in the middle of everything. The room was clean, small but I was prepared for this based on other reviews and I was also prepared for the noise from nearby bars in action until 2am. I had two problems with this hotel. 1) the sink faucet barely worked, it sprayed this pitiful amount of water that you couldn't even capture in your hands to wash your face. 2) The breakfast was barely average. The coffee and tea were self serve in cups that gave off a terrible flavor and there wasn't fresh milk or half n half, instead they offered those little creamer things. The bagel wasn't fresh, the squirt package of cream cheese and the Denny's style jelly pod is corny and tasteless and why not offer some fruit? The breakfast could so easily have been much nicer, for probably no more cost, just a tad more effort.
“Can't wait to go back”
There was a suite available on our weekend stay and it was offered to us at a discounted rate because of remodeling being done to the room that was next door to our booked room. The hotel staff was completely concerned with our comfort and satisfaction relating to our hotel stay. The garden balcony is delightful and the continental breakfast was much more than we expected. This is an excellent location if your planning a visit to La Jolla.
“A Lower Cost La Jolla Option”
Older place in a great location within La Jolla enclave, but with better prices than most. Continental breakfast delivered to your room is reasonable. Parking is two blocks away, unless you are lucky enough to get one of 10 slots or so just outside the place, which are not reserved for hotel guests. Rooms are quite small, the "double" bed was two singles placed together, with little room for even a comfortable chair. Certainly not the best place in La Jolla, but when considering the price differential relative to the extras you get elsewhere, still a great value, given central location. Just be know what you are in for when signing up...It is a 2-3 stars place at best...
“We're staying there again!!”
What we liked: location of hotel so close to the water entry off the street staff responded to our finding that the tub was not draining and fixed the problem that day breakfasts were very adequate front desk staff was helpful in finding dance venues in San Diego room was clean and staff was very friendly refrigerator was handy glass drinking cups(ie, not plastic) front staff very gracious and helpful in showing us how to use the A/C on day 1 What we would suggest changing or improving: Bran muffins every day for breakfast broken lamp stem was noted on day 1 and a fix was promised but never happened so we could not use the lamp We will definitely come back
“small hotel, great location”
cute, small, perfect location..wonderful staff...even gave us an umbrella when it rained! Great continental breakfast brought to your room!
“La Jolla Inn”
Good location, nice breakfast, peaceful. The room is not large, but enough.
