“not impressed”
ocean too cold, train too loud and way to fast, I am really suprised that there are no accidents there with the pedrestants!!!! The food too expensive and not that good either.
“Eh, I could take it or leave it.”
Hotel was in an amazing area for sure. Lobby and restaurant/bar areas excellent. Service was top notch. Rooms were noisy, Doors were thin to hall way and you hear everyone stomping around. If you are a light sleeper dont stay here. Although they do provide ear plugs in the night stand. So that is kind of a cheapo deepo fix of a not so cheap hotel. Come on L'Auberge spend the money on some new doors!
“Wonderful Stay!”
For our anniversary my boyfriend and I stayed at L'Auberge. Since our schedules change all the time we were lucky to get a room at the last minute just before the weekend. Everyone was extremely welcoming when we arrived. There was a wedding reception going on when we got there, but we didn't hear them at all from our room. The room itself was beautiful. Very detailed and comfortable. The bed was wonderful, so comfy! We were facing the front of the hotel and had trees blocking our view, but there wouldn't have been much to see anyway. The restaurants and Starbucks across the street made getting breakfast really convenient. Walking down to the beach was about 5 minutes. We also went to the zoo, which was maybe 30 minutes away. There we just a few downsides to our stay. One was the hotel fees on top of the valet fees on top of the price of the hotel. Everything added up as you tip here and there. The tv in our room had a little static (not a huge deal, but for the price I thought everything should be upkept). And on our last day I saw a silverfish bug in the bathroom. It was our last day so I didn't bother saying anything. Even though things were pricey, I would definitely stay here again. Everyone at the hotel and even around town were as nice as could be. And you can always make a small trip beyond the hotel to find cheaper food and drinks!
“We'll be back!”
L'Auberge is outstanding in the service they provide to their guests. Beginning with the friendly and helpful valet staff, to the exceptional housekeeping staff, there is always a warm greeting and sincerity in their willingness to help the guests. The spa is small, quiet and peaceful and, once again, the staff went above and beyond to provide great service. We can't wait to go back to L'Auberge!
“Just north of San Diego a charming hotel & restaurants.”
Rooms face the pool and restaurant while the ocean is visible from almost all rooms. Outdoor gas fireplaces at two bars, cozy cabana seating for small groups outdoors while dining. Across the street is the ocean which is fun to walk & watch surfers & people watching. Town of Del Mar has nice & fun boutique shops. There are many great restaurants in town including a good sushi restaurant & Italian. There's also a beautiful grocery store with all kinds of deli foods you can eat there or carryout. Many tables outdoors. It was a fun & relaxing 4 days. Easy to drive to & easy to drive to other towns nearby. And, they have a good fitness center.
“Del Mar”
This is a very nice hotel; however, I feel it is a bit overpriced for what you get. It is not the most "family friendly" hotel, and when traveling with a 4-year old that is important to us. The pool is very small and there is approx a 5-min walk to the beach, which you have to climb a steep set of stairs. The location is great though, and within walking distance to everything you would want in Del Mar. They offer a convenient shuttle service, which was nice when going back and forth to the horse race track. I would definitely go back with my husband, but I would probably look for somewhere when traveling with kids.
“It was the best hotel facility that I have been to in the San Diego area.”
The facility was great. It had great restuarants, pool area, views were fanastic, and was close o great clothing stores, other restuants, Torrey Pines, and the Del Mar race track..
“Could have been better”
The food is incredible. We had to change rooms because our room smelled and the staff was extremely cooperative. The rooms were clean. The hallways, stairwells were not kept up. The doors, walls, and carpets in those areas were dirty. The lobby, outdoor dining, fountain, and pool area are beautiful. I would have expected all areas of the hotel to be as clean as the lobby for this quality of a resort hotel.
“Beautiful Seaside Setting”
Resort hotel has all the amenities one would expect for this location and price range. My room was very quiet, clean and provided an ideal getaway. Within easy walking distance are several restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and a bagel stop. The public park and beach are a short walk away, and they are beautiful. I normally don't have spare time to relax, but I did on this short trip, and this was a perfect setting for it. Highlights for me are the Torrey Pines Municipal Golf Course and Louis Kahn's Salk Institute, both about four miles south. Both are must-see sites for lovers of golf and architecture!
“L'Auberge Del Mar”
very nice hotel in a great location and they accept small dogs which is a criteria for me
