“Ghetto ambience”

I don't consider myself real fussy about where I spend a night but this place disappointed me. On entering the room, it took me 4 tries to find a light that worked. It was clean enough, etc. Continental breakfast was meager. The worst was the clientele: on the way to register, two lowlifes in the hot tub were talking about a jail stay; I didn't hear if it was past, future, or hypothetical. Then my neighbors spent most of the evening outside the rooms, drunk and yelling and laughing and falling down. Charming. Oh, and the hot water in the shower hammered so loud I could hardly stand it, much less the people in 11 surrounding rooms. Manager: "Yeah, it does that."

“You get what you paid for”

Services were OK. Check in was quick and we order extra pillows and they were delivered within 5 minutes. Room conditions were not great, carpet was dirty and not because it wasn't vacuumed. We found a roach and some ants. Bed was not great but livable for couple days. At least it has cable with good receptions.

“Not worth it”

Beds were hard as a rock, room had a musty/smoky smell even though it was a "non-smoking" room. Shower head was at nose-level (and I'm only 5'8"). They only give you 2 towels and 1 washcloth. Continental breakfast was a couple of cereals, a few english muffins and some bread, coffee was like water. Do yourself a favor and spend a few more bucks for something nicer. Only plus was that it had a fridge and microwave.

“Never Again!”

The carpet was totally saturated, and the bathroom had many ants. The room had no ventilation during the day we arrived, so it stank when we walked in. We could not stay in the room and had to drive all the way home that night. Very disappointing!

“Spray away your troubles”

I was given a smoking room even though I requested a non smoking room then told that there were no more rooms yet people continued to check in after me. I was offered a bottle of "spray" and told I could spray it around the room and leave the door open to air out which was not useful as there was a man sitting on the stair well outside my room smoking. It was basically take it or leave and no refund. I would not recommend this place...sleeping in your car would be better.

“I will never go back :(”

The hotel is not pleasant, the management isn't friendly or helpful. The neighborhood is ugly and the pool is dirty. Their breakfast is not fresh and not tempting. Overall a really bad experience. I will certainly not go back.

“Not impressed”

I am sad to write this review. When I booked it I thought this would be a decent hotel at a good price. The hotel is located in an area of Escondido that I would be afraid to walk in alone. The rooms were run down and not nice at all. All the rooms have outside access which is noisier and not as safe as inside rooms. I will not go back.

“BEDBUGS! COLD WATER!”

I spent three nights at this hotel, when I was supposed to be spending 10 nights. I got over 30 bedbug bites and had to leave! In addition, they do not have hot water - when I checked in I called to ask why there was not hot water for my shower and they told me I would have to wait until the morning for hot water! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO ANYONE

“Poor Howard Johnson”

This hotel looked ok on the website, but something must have slipped through the cracks. This place was horrible. It was the kind of hotel that you would take a $10.00 hooker to and pay for the room by the hour. Not exactly the standard that the Howard Johnson Company has tried to build over the last several decades. If they were smart, they would take their name off this hotel in a hurry.

“Not at all what I expected.”

The door of the room was open when I arrived. There was debris in the bathroom sink. Thr room was supposed to be non-smoking, but it wasn't. The bed was king size, but the spring were pokoing throught...one of the the worst beds I've ever seen.
