“A great hotel that isn't a chain”
I don't know how they do it but this hotel has the nicest staff on the planet. The valet parkers are dreams. The receptions staff is charming. The room service is incredibly fast and the food tastes like it has been cooked by humans for humans! The rooftop restaurant is one of the most uplifiting places in the world to have breakfast. This hotel just shows how great hotels can be when they aren't part of anonymous cloned chains.
“Hotel La Jolla rocks”
Hotel Lajolla has a great ocean view from several blocks from. The ocean, in a great neighborhood you can walk to the village or beach or catch the free shuttle to the cove. Fun Skybar on the top floor, definately recommend! Good time and good foodServed there great for sunset
“loved it!”
My husband and I stayed here for our 1 year wedding anniversary and we loved it. We had an ocean view room on the 6th floor and the view was beautiful. the hotel is convenient to all of the beaches and is in a great area. The rooms were spotlessly clean and the beds were super comfortable. We also had dinner at The Grille on the top floor of the hotel. It was a little pricy, but definitely worth it! The only downside to the hotel is the valet only parking fee, although they do have a free shuttle service that runs until 10 pm. Overall I thought it was a great location and a wonderful hotel :)
“Horrible experience”
My wife and I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and while the first and second nights were quiet and enjoyable the last night was unnecessarily miserable. On the third night the occupants of the adjoining room started loudly partying and braying with laughter at 10:00 pm. Two complaint telephone calls to the front desk and a visit by the hotel front desk employee got the idiots to move their party (to another room in the hotel!) but they soon returned and the noise continued unabated until 2 am. The front desk was unwilling or unable to eject them from the hotel and let the quiet occupants on the whole floor suffer the pain of a sleepless night. We will never go back to this hotel.
“Great stay!”
Great hotel with the beaches close by (5 min on foot).
“Not impressed”
The location of this hotel was good. We were within walking distance of the beach was is always a plus. The valet service was efficient. Our disappointment: the hotel is pricey but expected given the area, however I was traveling with an older teenager. We reserved a room with 2 beds and were given a king sized bed(not a huge deal, but....) We were told there were no other rooms available. The room did not have any hotel fact info; no coffee maker; the only info was for room service. The room smelled like wet dog. If we wanted coffee we had to go down 10 floors to the lobby. We ordered room service at 8 pm on our arrival night...it took 90 minutes for our food(a hamburger) to arrive after multiple phone calls checking on the status. My biggest disappointment was the front desk staff was not helpful at all in terms of directions or help with tourist type activities. They had no directions or maps available for us. If it weren't for the valet attendants we would still be driving in cirlces! The bottom line: for the nightly rate of this room I expected at least the basic amenities: coffeemaker in my room and a front desk staff that is knowledgeable of the area.
“Overall it's pretty good!”
The pictures of the hotel's rooms on their website are just as what they really are, which are very nice! Outward appearance of hotel is not very impressive, not to mention the lobby's front desk! The front desk in the lobby area is very small and in the corner, it was not a good impression for me! They weren't very updated with technology too! This hotel would have been just perfect if they could just match up the lobby/ front desk with the nice rooms they have. First impression matters a lot! Overall this hotel was very nice and comfortable!
“Ok for one night”
The Hotel location was OK for one night, but not longer, because it is not central and the pool is way too small, the hot tube was also not working.
“Very quiet and good location.”
We brought our nine month old baby and felt very comfortable. The room had an amazing view. The valet was excellent and helpful. Everyone was very nice. Very quick walk to the beach and shops. We only used our car once. LOVED this hotel. Hopefully we can go back soon.
“Close to La Jolla”
Our room was very comfortable and, being on the 4th floor, did have some limited ability to see the ocean. I like the fact that the rooms have balconys. The road noise can be an issue so you won't be sleeping with the balcony ajar to enjoy fresh air. I did not like that you had to pay $15/day for parking. This seems a bit ridiculous.
